Getting flagged and looking for possible solutions for the future.steemCreated with Sketch.

in #steemit7 years ago

As we all know steemit is still in Beta and is continually being being developed to give all steemians the best Blockchain experience. One of such issues is that of flagging and getting flagged, all depends on what side of th coin you're sitting on.

If you do not intends on reading this post to the end, i would really appreciate it if you could comment your thoughts on the topic and the possible ways this could be developed on in the future.
Thank you.

Couldn't find a red flag. Lol
So down to business:

A. What are the consequences of getting flagged?
From what i've come to notice when a person gets flagged which could as well be seen as the opposite to getting upvoted these happen;

  1. You loose your Content Rewards or part of it at least depending on how much the person who flagged you has vested.
  2. You loose part or all of your Reputation i.e you could see it sent down to 0.
  3. Your content would be hidden from the public's eye. Well untill you can get as much upvotes from friends and family to help you get back on your feet that is.

B. Why do content get flagged?
Given that you don't get the ability to see who flagged you and maybe ask them why you'll need to know some house rules:

  1. Lack of sources foe copied work. i.e Copy and Paste (images, videos, blogs, etc )
  2. using all CAPS for you blog
  3. Inappropriate or any content not allowed by the community
  4. Spamming in comments or anywhere
  5. Begging foe money from members. Remember you get your worth.
  6. Settling scores (maybe you upset someone they can choose to flag you as payback, well sound childish but its possible )
  7. Jealousy (maybe i made a post that got no attention and you did the same and got so much, bam i flag you. )
  8. People finding out you are good at flagging others. Well you know the rest.
  9. I will post some links to blogs that spoke of similar issues if you wold like t read more on this bellow.

C. ways to get out of the jam.

  1. Avoid using some or most of the above.
  2. Read the Quick start Guide at https://steemit.com/welcome or contact support.join https://steemit.chat/home (for post flagging cases.)
  3. settle any issues you may have with a person in the comments first so that in the case of a repeat of the said action a flag might be in place most new members are learning and steemit can only grow if we all grow.
  4. Make possible changes o the flagging rules. such that Flags could be debated in a 24 hour window before being fully implemented given that good risen is provided. a lot of posts are being up-voted daily and the flagged posts are fewer which could make this a good option i think and would help to avoid irresponsible flagging.
  5. Learn, Practice and Execute.
  6. You can try to find who flagged you but i wont go into that in this post. Just search it on steemit.

A fellow steemian said and i quote:
" @ladypenelope163 11 months ago
couldn't agree with you more - if they had a dislike button and a comment as to why they flagged you, at least you would have a better understanding and may not make the same mistake again."
