Why I choose Steemit over Facebook
I believe in Steemit because of its ability to take the best parts of existing platforms and the potential to rapidly expand. I have been laughed at by friends and even family when explaining the basics of Steemit and when I said it had potential to reach the likes of Reddit and Facebook. However it is clear from the start that there is something new here. People on Steemit are being compensated for doing the same things that they used to do on Facebook. Steemit is a platform where people can exchange ideas and information and can be compensated for quality work.
Right now people use blogs, search engines, and forums as means of sharing ideas and stories. However, people don’t realize that they could be making money for doing the exact same thing they have been doing.
With Steemit’s rapidly growing user and fan bases it is conceivable that content will diversify and overall quality will improve, helping the website grow exponentially. Steemit has potential to pull users from a variety of different platforms as its exposure grows.
The future of Steemit and why I’ve bought in
What I see as the future of Steemit is where you can combine all things you need on the internet and consolidate it all in one place. Steemit can be a search engine where you can do your shopping, pay for things with Steem as opposed to credit cards. Meanwhile, it is also a social media platform that you can use to converse with friends, find major news, and join communities in which people can discuss common interests.
As a longtime Facebook user myself, I have started with Steemit and don’t think I’ll go back. The platform allows not only for sharing with others but financial incentives for valued comments, which is attractive for those that do the same thing for free on other sites.. Now the big challenge is increasing exposure in order spread awareness to show the improvements over past ideas and the unlimited potential.
Steemit shows the world just a glimpse of what decentralized technology can do and its advantages. It is also noteworthy to point out that Steemit is still in its beta phase and there are constant improvements being made. Steemit has incredible potential and with a solid following could someday take over the internet!!!

Keep in mind, people laughing at it will be the exact reason you could make tons of money when it becomes popular. People laughed at the internet in it's humble beginnings. People laughed at bitcoin. People have laughed at lots of things, but if someone's isn't willing to learn then it is their own fault for missing on an amazing opportunity to invest in the future. And people are making money when using social media, they are just making it for the companies instead. Great post and thanks for joining the fun!

Yeah, I agree... LUCKILY some people are laughing at this... at least when it will be famous we will have a bigger piece of the cake :D
And I also agree on the fact that Steemit does have a bright future, paying for quality and for what people does for pleasure is probably the best idea these guys could have had.
