A week into Steemit and I have a few issues! Regardless, I'm thinking of investing $1000 of my savings into Steem!steemCreated with Sketch.

So as someone who turned the other way just by hearing the word "crypto" a week ago, saying that I have come far would be an understatement. Not only have I familiarised myself with the Steemit platform but also the world of Crypto, in all its might. I have a plethora of market cap/crypto apps downloaded on my iPhone and logging onto them after every half hour has become a welcomed habitual habit. All good things come at a price though, and even though the idea behind Steemit is amazing - the execution as of yet is slightly lacking in some areas. But we'll get there, soon enough. I know we will. But there are issues. And we MUST confront them before we move forward. I dont know how many of these issues are faced by Steemians all over the world, but these are the bugs/issues that have bothered me most until now:

  1. The wallet screen glitch!
This by far has to be one of my biggest complaints with the platform ever since I joined. For some odd reason my wallet screen differs from my blog screen in that it isn't synchronised with the rest of my data on Steemit. It does not show my cover photo, it does not show my increased reputation rating (still stuck at 25) and sometimes it even fails to update the numbers for followers and posts. This is a rather annoying glitch as it puts me off a great deal. I'm a fan of looking at my numbers go up (don't judge me) and when they don't I get really disappointed. I'm not sure on how to fix this. No amount of refreshing or browsing for solutions has helped me so far, so I hope that enough people in the Steemit community take notice of this and a fix is provided on the earliest.

  1. The Steemstats dilemma.
So this is something I didn't know I was putting on the list until just today. Curious about the statistics of my posts and rewards I wanted to see where I was standing, however, I found my experience with Steemstats to be one of disappointment. It just always seems to be stuck at a number showing the "syncing" icon which never seems to go away, no matter how much I stare at it. Not only is it very slow to load but only being able to browse my last twenty comments just doesn't cut it for me. I like to comment on posts that I like, and sometimes I get upvoted. It would be great to be able to see all that data not just on an extension like steemstats rather the Steemit interface itself. I'v also tried other alternatives labelled under "Steemit tools" but none of them are at a consumer friendly level as of yet. At least not for me.

  1. The Confusion Paradox
One of the things I noticed about Steemit the day I joined in was the relationship between how cool and at the same time confusing the platform became for me over a period of one week. The relationship was directly proportional. In my efforts to get more and more of my friends onto Steemit I had to first go through the process of explaining the entire platform to them. I always started with something like "Think facebook.. but different..." and the explanation that followed was met with a very befuddled expression. Every. Single. Time. Each one of my friends understood the concept of the really cool platform that gives you money but above and beyond that, they failed to understand anything. "So what does Steem do?" One of them asked by the end of my explanation, and hence I decided to put this on the list. Point is they had to use it to get it, you don't have to use facebook to get what it is. If we need to scale, maybe it should be a little simpler than that? I don't know how though, I'm just asking questions at this point. I know most of you will say the platform isn't for people who don't understand it, but it's these people, who don't understand the world of crypto, who will bring more life, art, entertainment and eventually a big heart into the platform.

  2. The new user account delays!
So this is one that didn't actually affect me directly but is an issue that was encountered by every single one of my friends (some of them still waiting btw). Now I know theres a cue but seriously? People have to wait weeks to get their approval emails and a good percentage of them never come back to the platform, ever! My own girlfriend got so disheartened she didn't want to make an account anymore but don't worry, I told her good things come to those who wait.

  3. I need notifications!
The last thing on this list I'm guessing is the easiest to deal with here and its that I want to be able to know when someone upvotes or resteem my blogs with the help of notifications. Sadly, I dont get that pleasure. Instead I have to manually go through all of my comments and blogs to see which ones have been upvoted or resteemed. I recently became a judge of a $45 SBD contest hosted by @bycoleman and I felt as though I was missing out on most comments since I had to manually check for each and every single one of them. A notification would help do wonders here, please someone listen!!

Anywho, regardless of all the shortcomings the Steemit platform is one that I adore with all of my heart. I absolutely love it. The interface, the night toggle option (to show my friends how cool Steemit is), the upvoting, the community - everything is amazing. So amazing in fact that I'm thinking about investing $1000 into Steem. I'm very confident in the platform and the ideals on which it stands, and I hope that one day the entire world gets to know what an amazing platform steemit is. I'm still hazy on a lot of things but I learn everyday. I want to gain more knowledge before I nosedive into it, but once all of my issues get resolved or maybe perhaps even before that I have put a $1000 on the side for a platform that I love most in this world! :)

Also, please pardon me for my lack of knowledge in some key areas, maybe some of my rants have already been addressed. I believe my point of view is one of someone who doesn't really understand the world of crypto the way the rest of you do, but I want to be a part of your gang and am learning new things everyday! :)

If you liked my blog and want to see some of these issues fixed, please resteem, comment and upvote!

What does the number behind your username mean?

It's your reputation number! The more upvotes you get, the more your credibility will increase and hence the more that number will grow. I started out with 25 too, got to 30 in a week when I got upvotes from the community!

I'm also curious about why the wallet screen header doesn't get updated.

As for your notification question - if you haven't looked yet, steemworld.org/@yourname is pretty helpful in this regard. It wouldn't help with your contest example - since I think those posts are going to someone else's post. But if you want to see when people upvote or comment on your posts, it's perfect for that.

Hey @jpgaltmiller thanks for letting me know about steemworld.org, ill be sure to give it a spin today! :)

Also, I know right? I hope they fix it soon :/
