Steemit Pond [Version 2] – A Real-Time Visualization of Steemit Activity: Added tx types, user filters, sound, bug fixes…

in #steemit8 years ago (edited)

Steemit Pond is back and a bit busier with added activity types, custom user filters, sound, and bug fixes...

Thanks to the Steemit community for the support and feedback on the initial Steemit Pond release. You provided some fantastic feedback.

I have been on vacation recently, but I managed to take a vacation from my vacation to code V2 which I am happy to present.

Steemit Pond Now Includes:

Additional Steemit Activity Types:

Steemit Pond V1 included only 4 activity types:

  • Top level posts
  • Comments on existing posts
  • Upvotes
  • Down votes

Steemit Pond Version 2 increases pond activity by introducing several additional types:

  • New accounts
  • Account updates
  • Miner rewards
  • STEEM transfers
  • Limit orders

New activities are better explained by the updated Steemit Pond legend

User Filters:

You are now able to visualize the activity of a specific or multiple user(s) by adding user filters. Just open the User Filters menu…

Input the user name and transactions corresponding to that user will render as divers in the Steemit Pond. Reference the legend above for further details on user filters.

Added Sound:

The Steemit Pond browsing experience is now enhanced with aquatic sounds. By default, sound is off, but sound is easily toggled with the click of a button.

Improved Appearance:

Improved pond images, menus, usability

Bug Fixes:

V1 contained an iOS bug that resulting in the viewport being expanded as pond elements exited the screen. This resulted in erratic scrolling and some pond elements never coming into the viewable area. Version 2 fixes this.

Check out the newly improved Steemit Pond Version 2!

A special thanks again to @roelandp for inspiring the Steemit Pond idea and @pharesim for steemjs, a library used for interfacing with the steemd database.

This is really cool. Great work on the update.
I kind of want to set it as a screensaver or something similar.
Instead of the old Aquarium screensaver, it's a visualisation of real-time transactions on a block-chain. Which is so much cooler to me.

Thanks. Some other users on the original post had the same idea. Not sure if any of them pulled it off using third party tools.

I got this running on Debian using Xscreensaver and This repo. Just needed to install webkit 3.0 follow the instructions in the ReadMe. In the Xscreensaver settings ->advanced just call the site with the -url parameter like so.

Well done! Following you

Great! And greetings from the other side of the world.

Fun Visualization...

Hey Brian,

This is such an awesome way to visualize the activity inside of the Steem realm. The sound is very relaxing, by the way. :-)

Keep up the good work!

Thanks!

@mynameisbrian Love it! As a pro scuba diver this is absolutely dope. Best Steemit tool yet imho. Upvoted and followed.

this is the funnest thing ever!
