Payout time limit
Is it true that posts (including on dTube and dSound) do not earn rewards after the first 7 days?
This is a really large disincentive for groups like us that want to put quality videos and music online, and not just spam photos and ads for upcoming concerts. I'm sure there is a reason for this payout time limit, but at the moment it is really quite restrictive for long term quality content.
Does anyone know if there are plans to tweak this rule or is it a hard and fast part of Steem and Steemit?
I believe steemit is still essentially in beta, so many things could change in the future.
Let's hope this is something that could be looked at again.
I hope it changes, but wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't.
Why is it like this? It would be nice to earn a constant stream from a video. Is it too prevent abuse?
Also, do you happen to know what the policy on reposting your own content is?
Was going to ask the same question, sometimes i need 6 months to finish a piece.....and they are almost never shorter then 5-6 min....
Yes, it takes a lot to record or video a concert. If the return is only in the first week, then it makes more sense to blog about trivial topics,instead of long lived articles, performance pieces or tutorials.

It looks like I got author rewards from a comment that I made on a 4 month old post, so maybe the original article owner also got a bit by replying?
I am new here(correct me if i am wrong) but I think for now is better to make a blog and insert a video in it so people can like the blog, so u still get some rewards past 7 days....

No, I'm sorry, I am barely a newbie myself, joined barely a week and a half ago. I am a composer (fantasy, film music with vocals) but I'm inclined to soundtracks, so my former ensemble and released material uses cello, violins... I play myself celtic harp, dulcimer, hammered dulcimer, Kantele, among others. In Barcelona I had them at hand but I'm now living in a smaller place. And thank you, you never know :) my music is not classical though, it´s closer to music scores. I loved bowed strings though, most of my songs have cello solos and now I have no cello player in the town I live. Regarding the seven days, I have sort of the same problem that I have material that has taken long time to produce (music videos) and expiring in just a week you feel more inclined to post more spontaneous work, and saving those "best" for when you already have a following. It´s tricky but I'm using this to engage with a new audience, watching the rewards as "tokens" only. Lots of luck!
