RE: A Steemit Retrospective as a Social Media Platform & Promotional Content for YOU to Use!

in #steemit6 years ago

I think many of us disagree with the idea of promoting the 'making money' concept as the central idea of steemit. This is also something ned said himself in an interview that this should be considered just one smaller aspect of what steem is.

I don't know to what extend this is kidding ourselves, but the very reason user retention is roughly about 9-10% last time I checked, is because people come for the money and leave when they realise their crappy blog didn't instantaneously get $500.

Money is only an incentive when it's enough to talk, and so I think we need to de-emphasise the idea and instead emphasise the community aspect; especially given that Hivemind will (300 years from now I guess) become more like reddit in its interface change.

Also, I like how you tagged steemstem but didn't include it in your recommended blogs =P

cheers for your input dude. its always appreciated... will see about creating some other form of banners that are more community focused.
as for the recommended blogs, its more of a friend / mutual agreement to cross promote each other. so if your willing to resteem or put a link in every post? lol

as i mentioned, the community and connection side of the platform goes hand in hand with the earning side too. and for content creators on other platforms, money is one of the main reasons why they do what they do, so to come over to this one and be successful will result in not only them adding to an already friendly site but they will be enhancing it with the content they produce.... and earning some extra cash as a result.

but i see where you are coming from, so yeah... will sort some more community orientated banners and perhaps some that target pre existing content creators on other platforms...

what do you think?
