This is well documented @fancybrothers. I am with you especially on the interaction and consistency.
In deed, for me, Interaction, is the first requirement. Because as you so aptly point out, It is ultimately the friends you make, that upvote and support you.
You might be able to get an indiscriminate 20$+'big upvote; once in a while, but that is just about it - once in a while! However if you want to see your daily posts get upvotes, however small, but ultimately summing up to something reasonable, you need to make friends.
And friends can only be made by showing genuine interest in other people's works, by visiting their blogs, and sharing in the discussions.
Only consistently, i need not add anything, you say it all so well.

Thanks. It takes commitment. And everything somewhat starts to fall in place. I figured out, that if i can't invest money, as i honestly can't afford that right now, then i can at least invest 'TIME". These go concurrently for the best results, but either, can also do, except in triple extents!!!
I have basically come across people who have SP equivalent to 3-5000and only just upvote themselves. They post - to put it bluntly, although it is only just my opinion which may, or may not be right - shit work, but reward themselves. I guess that is in some part, the benefit of investing money, you get to circumvent the benefaction of others which is conditional on such things as good quality.
Notice i am not condoning this, i obviously disagree with investing money just so to upvote yourself, but it is well, what you are empowered to do, when you invest.
What then does one who has no money to invest and is hoping to make it to the 'whale league' such as i, do? Invest time, i am convinced. But time to do what? It comes back down to being interactive and consistent.
