10 Popular Social Media Posting TrendssteemCreated with Sketch.

It is easy to see why Steemit is the classiest social media platform on the internet. When you compare posting trends on sub-standard social media sites, like Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, etc., there is no comparison when viewing the many quality posts like you will find on Steemit.

These are 10 current popular posting trends on "old school" social media:

NUMBER 1:

SELFIE'S

Selfie's can be pretty cool, if you take a picture of yourself hanging from the edge of the Grand Canyon, or in front of the Lincoln Monument, or maybe jumping out of an airplane!

On the reverse side, there is the "HEY! LOOK AT ME! I NEED ATTENTION - RIGHT NOW!" selfie. These can be annoying! They are self-indulging, and are not much use to anyone but the person taking the selfie.

NUMBER 2:

THROWBACK THURSDAY

20170622_081255.png

Throwback Thursday may work on Facebook, because your friends can relate to your memories. Posting old photo's, with a few exceptions, may not be as effective on Steemit, because we don't share the same life experiences. Lets face it, for the most part, we are almost complete strangers!

There are some exceptions though. If you are a hot super model with some old photo's of you in a skimpy bikini, I encourage you to share them immediately. (JUST KIDDING! We don't want to offend younger or more sensitive viewers.)

NUMBER 3:

REACTION GIF's

Reaction GIF's may be effective on Steemit, if used in moderation. It can add some punch to your posts or comments, but too many may be distracting and annoying to your viewers.

NUMBER 4:

EMOJIS

Emoji's can also add some punch to your posts or comments, but should also be used in moderation. Overuse can be annoying to viewers and make your post look ghetto.

NUMBER 5:

BITE-SIZED VIDEO'S

The reality is, nobody has a long enough attention span to watch a long video all the way through, unless it is of blockbuster importance. The Dollar Vigilante's video's are always easy for me to watch. And, now that the entire world has gone mobile, videos aren't as long as they used to be.

NUMBER 6:

MASS LIKING AND FAVORITING

20170622_084030.png

Ever since Facebook introduced the Like button, almost every other major social networking site and app has tried to implement the same idea into its own platform. On Twitter, it's the favorite button. On Tumblr and Instagram, it's the heart button. Whatever its form may be, liking and starring and hearting everything is the lazy user's way to easily interact online.

The beauty of Steemit is, if you are mass upvoting, you get paid for curration! Does it get any better than that?!

NUMBER 7:

MASS REPOSTING, RETWEETING, REPINNING AND REBLOGGING

I repost Steemit posts on Facebook and retweet on Twitter from Steemit frequently, because it is an available option on Steemit. I hope it is a good way to spread the word about Steemit. I'm sure I'm not making Twitter and Facebook happy though.

NUMBER 8:

FAN INDULGMENT

There are those who are obsessed with a particular band, movie, TV show, webcomic, book or whatever else. Social media gives fans a way to show their appreciation of their favorite stars or media. Good on Steemit? Maybe.......

NUMBER 9:

WEB HUMOR AND PARODY ACCOUNTS

Want to get a lot of followers on social media really fast? Pretend to be someone else who's already pretty famous, and poke fun at them. Twitter and Facebook are the most popular medium for this type of trend, although Facebook has cracked down on this practice

I created a Paris Hilton profile on Facebook many years ago and goofed on her for a long time. A lot of my friends on Facebook thought I was really friends with her!

Note: Don't try this on Steemit, you may get in trouble really quick!

NUMBER 10:

SHORTENED URL's

Nobody likes to look at a link posted online that's hundreds of characters long (like the one I posted below). It takes up way too much room. If you do post an outside link on social media, the general trend is to use a link shortener like BITLY.
