I can confirm that the preview was correct <-- All pictures were loading. It was after I hit the post button that all of the URL's were modified.

Image urls on Steemit are supposed to start with https:// and end with an image extension like .jpg It may help to add s to http on image urls
most image servers don't use a secure socket layer, like https
