We need to be active on here and upvote posts we'd like to see, quality and original content. As long as shit posts are able to trend people will post shit posts.
If we do a better job of curating and creating better quality content, mehanizator, we should be able to prevent the platform from being polluted with garbage.
Well I posted a major security issue with steemit.com yesterday, my post gained ~65 USD worth of votes (defined by weight of voters), and substanceless posts that show woman in revealing clothing gets ~1,000 USD.

why would people upvote garbage, especially when their upvotes directly effect how much money they and other people get?
