What can I do?
A few recent posts written by @tarazkp and @hotsauceislethal has me to wonder just how big of a impact I personally bring to the table. Sure my account is new and worth the equivalent of pack of gum and a lottery ticket. But that does not mean I don’t have the ability to do what I can.
That's what I want to focus on. The impact I can control. And not what is out of my hands or what I have yet to fully understand.
The following is what I thought up some of it as I worked today, some as I write this.
Original content

I want to devote my Steemit account to 100% original content. In the past I saw fit to re-post stories and blog posts from accounts I had on medium and other blog type platforms. And while I may have stated the re-post (usually) I no longer want to simply throw shit up for the sake of more posts. Nope, from now on all of my posts will be original and exclusive.
Speaking of original content…

I can spew all the original content I want but whats that worth if I simply toss us a senseless rambling that I put in no real effort.
Does that mean all of my content it going to be gold? Perish the thought. I’m sure to produce at least a fair amount of crap in the coming months and years. But it’s going to be honest and well intended crap :-)
Sure, I my words may be rusty now but I have faith in my ability to grow as a writer. I may be put out the greatest prose now but I can promise that I write to the best of my current abilities.
Spread the message

Sometimes a post comes along that deserves more eyes. My following may be small now but if I can share a influential post to a few more views then I am glad to do so.
More then just words…

I don’t want to leave a random vague comment, especially to a story that someone put effort in (or at least well intended). I get that sometimes a few words can get the message across better then a well thought out paragraph. And if thats the case then so be it.
Educate myself

The more I know, the more I can not sound like a moron….
No spammy post

This one is up to interpretation. What I think of as spam another may see as documenting a daily achievement. It may be important to them (or perhaps a daily payout grab.) either way I don’t wan to participating in filling anyone's feed with anything other then my sincere efforts.
Discover and explore

Every now and again it is a good idea to venture outside my own comfort zone and explore the outer limits of my own comfort zone. I may not find anything new that peaks my interest but over time a new tidbit or two may come into view and change my view or expand my thinking.
I thought about adding a section about only using original photos (something I plain on adding more to my posts) but really I don't think it's all bad using a stock image either. I see it as a way to promote and share others work. As long as the artist is given proper credit of course.
I know I may fail to follow one or more of these from time to time, but I will always push myself to improve everyday. Is this post perfect? not by a long shot. But, this post is better then I would have written yesterday. and Yeah, I could sit here and improve on it for a while but at some point I must ship what I have written. If I am constantly waiting for perfection I might as well hang up my board now.
~Meditations~
Sounds like a good plan to me @meditations. A little integrity goes a long way here I think. Thank you for sharing your ideas, and thank you to @chekohler for featuring your post in his Pay it Forward Curation Contest entry ( @pifc). Please consider joining us any week with an entry of your own; by helping others grow we build a stronger community ... and we'd love to have you with us :)
Wonderful views @meditations. I think it's a good path. I try to do that same myself. I only share things I want to expose Steemit to. If that's the right phrase. Anything I come across that I love, find informative or want to bring awareness to I share.
As for my posting, I don't want to put a post out, just to post. I want someone to go "Hey, @tryskele has a new post." It what I am for. I know some will love what I have and some won't. I just won't add dribble or what I think is dribble.
You were featured in week 69 of @pifc's Pay It Forward Curation Contest by @chekohler. @pifc is a Pay It Forward Community which believes in by helping others grow we build a stronger community. We run this contest each week, it is open to everyone. It's a great way to show off people you find that might need some more exposure, meet new people, and possibly win some SBI for you and your features.
I think we all struggle with these questions when we first get onto the platform and we feel because money is allocated to effort that we try to rationalise what we do here a bit more than traditional social media. I think that this is still a learning experience for developers as well as creators and its okay to try new things and explore new ideas.
I think that this is all a work in progress and we're not sure where it's headed but we all contribute in our own little way
Really enjoyed this post and nominated it for my @pifc post of the week there's my nomination and feel free to join us each week as we search for new authors like yourself and share their content with the group
I often forget about the side of the developers. Sometimes I think we expect a quality product from day one while we (or at least I) freely admit to things taking time to get better for our own talents.
Thanks for the reminder. I will check out @pifc post of the week too.
I think we all still come from a mindset where the sites we use are created by a single team that is aligned! Building in an open community environment is another story all together, we’re all in new waters learning to swim 🏊♂️
I think it will take time and if you enjoy the platform pay no mind to the rest and use it because you like it, the rewards are a byproduct
