Marvel designer will create new ISS mission patch. With Racoon and Groot on it. There is more funny patches

The patch was designed by Juan Doe, who has previously designed covers for Marvel. According to a press release, CASIS hopes that the patch will put more eyes on the ISS and bring hope for what people can accomplish in the future*

Interesting message to the future and i think, visually Racoon and Groot represents planet Earth very well.  

But they are not first comic or cartoon heroes on NASA patches.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles made it onto Nasa's patch for the Multi-Purpose Logistics Model of the International Space Station because three of the four modules shared names with the characters. Designed by Shepard Fairey.

Marvin the Martian and Duffy the Duck were on NASA Mars Exploration Rover Missions.

51th expedition in 2017 will have simple and symmetric logo on patch. Good one, but won't make sense like Racoon or ninja turtle.

The same thing with this 43th logo

You may not know that the space toilet has its own mission patch

And this one looks like it is vodka's label

So, there are many different interesting patches.
