PRIVACY, SPEED AND FREEDOM

The web browser sector is firmly dominated by Google Chrome and anyone looking for alternatives usually goes for Firefox, but there are other alternate browsers that you may consider.

Below are some desktop browsers, some you may know and some that are less known.
Some are more built towards privacy - which is what most care about nowadays.

Vivaldi - Absolute control of the look and features of your browser.

Vivaldi is the new browser of Jon von Tetzchner, co-creator and former CEO of Opera. After leaving his old project, seeing that Opera changed direction in his philosophy, he decided to recreate a new browser to retrieve it.

It is based on Chromium, achieves better results than alternatives like Firefox in HTML 5 tests, and you can configure practically everything to adapt it to your needs, from its appearance to the gestures and shortcuts.
It is a small project, but every few weeks it launches a new version.

Opera - the eternal alternative

A more than capable browser. It comes with interesting features like an integrated ad blocker, a battery saving feature and a free VPN.
The browser is based on Chromium, allowing you to use its huge array of extensions. It also includes other interesting features like visual markers, tabbed browsing and customizable shortcuts.

Epic Privacy Browser - Privacy above all

Privacy lovers have alternatives to navigate the web without worrying about all the elements that can track them, and Epic privacy browser is an example of this.
It is based on Chromium, it eliminates cookies and trackers after each session, and a proxy of its developers does all the searches that you do in it so that your IP can not be connected to the searches you make.
It prioritises SSL connections whenever possible, does not collect data about your users and includes a native ad blocker.
If you want even more secure connections, you also have the option to connect to a proxy and navigate securely.

Brave - A browser with your interests at heart.

Founded by the inventor of JavaScript and co-founder of Mozilla, the Brave browsers mission is to fix the web by giving users a safer, faster and better browsing experience.
It is 2x faster than Chrome, has HTTPS upgrades - which means more of your connections are encrypted, protecting your identity, browsing, payments and more.
It blocks the ads and trackers that slow you down and invades your privacy and will soon feature "Tor in the tab" providing even deeper privacy.
Brave is open source, and built by a team of privacy focused pioneers of the web.

These are just a few browsers that I myself have used in the past and some that I still continue to use today.

Let me know in the comments what your preferred browser is.
