Anarchy?

When I joined Steemit over two years ago, I was pointed here by @lukewearechange on a video Luke did saying that a decentralized, blockchain based, uncensorable community was being built that actually paid you to vote and blog.

I have always wanted a way to make a little extra on the side, so, I signed right up. I loved the interactions and meeting new people, but, I had trouble getting pictures to post. I asked for help and @papa-pepper actually talked me through the process over the phone. Thanks again for that @papa-pepper! I don't know how to code and that was a stumbling block as well. Still, I muddled through and actually got some pretty good upvotes sometimes.

I did not look at Steemit as a source of income and thankfully, I still don't. Steemit has helped me over some rough times, however and I am eternally grateful to @lukewearechange and people like @papa-pepper for encouraging me and helping me to become a real Steemian. I had almost 1300SP once and I am fighting to get back there. And thank God the SBD and STEEM price was so high when I needed it most.

There are still a lot of things that could be better about the Steemit platform, but, I have personally seen mountains of good change come in the last two years. Now, to put a picture in a blog takes seconds instead of having to go to an outside site to get a link for a picture and paste it in. The rewards pool has been working better and better as well. I am sure there are many changes that have happened that I do not even know about and many more to come.

But,

I keep reading about the bad UX is here and how @dan and @ned abandoned us to this subpar platform while they went off to new projects, leaving us all to fend for ourselves. I want to address this because I just read a complaint from an anarchist and many of the comments in the post from followers, I can only assume fellow anarchists about this very thing and all I could think was "you call yourself an anarchist and then plead to a 'master' to fix Steemit".

  • Steemit is ours, if I read it right. It is up to us to vote for the witnesses and then lobby them for specific changes.
One comment I read is that Steemit is like Wordpress ten years ago. Really? I didn't relize that Wordpress was run on the fastest blockchain and paid you to post. I thought it was a place to go blog and shill your wares or affiliations.

  • Steemit, though it reqires a small learning curve, is a revolutionary idea and Steem is nothing short of amazing in the blockchain community. Having to learn a few coding tricks to get your post looking good is considerably worth the while.

  • You can build your own UI, I know of at least two other user interfaces with Steem, there are even more being written I am sure. Busy.org and Partiko are two. Ulogs.org is another. I am kind of a purist, so, though I do Ulogs almost every day now, I generally post using Steemit.

I know that everyone on Steemit is not a computer programmer, I am not one. I came for the censorship resistance and the hope of making a little extra scratch. Steemit has exceeded all of my expectations and I couldn't be happier. Is it perfect? No. Will it ever be? Probably not, but we have the tools to make it better and better as time goes on. Is Windows perfect? No. Will it ever be? No, and there is nothing you can do about it. At least with Steemit we have a chance to make a difference.

As for the anarchists looking for a solution from above? I pray you learn the meaning of anarchy soon.

Thanks for reading! See you next time!

I am still sticking to to base steemit submit because i got use to liking the control i can have with using html. I know that's not for everyone but i like to have my control on the formatting. 😎

I agree. It was a bit daunting at first, but, I grew to love it.

Have a look at steempeak.com, so much better.

I will, thanks.
