I wanted to remind you that APPICS will launch the first public ICO on the Steem-Blockchain on March 28, 2018.
This is really exciting news for the whole Steem ecosystem and the beginning of a new era of SMT (Smart Media Tokens) that will be developed on the Steem-Blockchain.
So what is APPICS and why is it different to Steemit.com?
- APPICS is more focused on video and picture content like e.g. Instagram
- APPICS will be more focused on well-known influencers from different kinds of fields e.g. lifestyle, music, film, fashion..
- APPICS will have an intuitive and easy to navigate User-interface
- APPICS will have a different kind of rating system for better visibility for relevant content
- APPICS will have moderators in each category who will function as supervisors to keep the ecosystem in balance
- APPICS will have the same reward system as Steemit where you get paid for creating content, voting and participating
- APPICS will develop its own Service/ Product based ecosystem where Influencers have the ability to promote their merchandise in exchange for XRP tokens.
The Pre-Sale campaign which started in December 2017 is already over. On March 28, 2018, the main public sale will take place in four rounds. You can purchase XRP Tokens with ETH, BTC, BCH, LTC, Steem and SBD.
There will be only 120 mio. coins for sale of a total coin supply of 240 mio.

The Token Sale will be hosted on the Ethereum Blockchain in order to distribute the XRP Tokens. Later on, when the main Application will be launched they will switch the Ethereum Tokens to the new Steemit Blockchain SMT Token system. This is important to understand since the development of the SMT-Toolkits is still ongoing.
Unfortunately, US-Residents are excluded from the Token Sale.

yes but don't forget SMT hasn't been released yet so no SMT no APPICS steemit inc needs to be on schedule to deliver but will they? the all thing could go sour and be delayed and the APPICS smart contract for the erc20 is not professional at all..
However I am very interested in APPICS if they can deliver a great product this is going to be really fun for the future and we will have to build our XAP power like crazy.

Yes, you right the final launch of the product depends on the development of the SMT itself. Its good to know that @ned is on the advisory board and therefore I think the project will be up-to-date with the latest development of the SMT project.
The power metrics should be very similar to Steem and Steempower up system but without a SBD equivalent from what I know. The distribution of all tokens should also be more "fair" since the APPICS Team wants to avoid that whales are dominating the trending topic content.

good one. so we looking at buying into the ico? when is it starting and ending and can one buy using sbd? for the airdrop when is it ending. guess one can get realtime update via telegram. thanks for sharing this
Yes, you can buy in with SBD at any time as long as the rounds are "active". There is no timeline till when the ICO lasts, its more likely that each round will be bought up quickly. The info in regards to the Airdrop for Steempower holders are not fully disclosed yet. We have to wait for further information.

They will distribute 5% of the tokens to holders of Steempower thats around 12mio tokens (240mio * 0.05%). If you take the circulating supply of Steem 250mio than you will get 0.048 XRP tokens per 1 Steem or 4.8 XRP tokens per 100 Steem.
This is not really much if you consider the ICO price of around 0.15$.

You will get 14.4 XRP Tokens per Airdrop for free so what do you mean with rate?

Yes you will get 14.4XRP for 300 Steempower. We have to wait for further details in regards to the airdrop. Probably this will take time till the final launch of the platform in Q3 2018.
