What Steemit Beta Means

in #steemit8 years ago

There are a lot of posts pointing out small problems with Steemit, or with questions about why Steemit does certain things  a certain way. These are good posts. If you can get discussions going about possible glitches you have found, or exploitation of features, or things that could make it better such as different kinds of messaging, or notifications that you could suggest, this all adds to Steemit. Because this is Steemit Beta. You are testing a product that has not even been released yet.

That is why the Whitepaper is so easily accessible and its not some footnote with a simpler more digestible version readily available for the common user. We are the test group. There are still fewer than 1,000,000 Steemit users.  So try to read the White Paper if you have some time, or at least some it it.

And just  in the past day I saw the first post that I have ever seen at $2000, right now it is still pretty common to get 5, 8, 10 votes and not even $0.01, that is because of the number of users and the time they have been here. Right now hardly anyone in the world is using Steem it. In about a year, everyone on here right now will be awarding $5-$30 in a single vote. And by that time it won't be strange to see a $10,000 or $20,000 post, maybe even up to $100,000.. Yesterday was the first day that nearly 3,000 people joined in 1 day. As more and more people join, more and more people will be telling their friends and family about it, and that number is just going to keep growing every day. And eventually it will be as common to hear about a famous Steemer as it is to hear about a famous YouTuber, the reason you hear about famous YouTubers and not famous Facebook users is because Facebook doesn't pay people. YouTube pays people, allowing them to generate better content, allowing them to get more viewers and followers. And because companies like Vevo can get on YouTube and generate money from their music videos, they sign contacts with people generating views because they know that if that person can generate views, then they can use that in their pool of people to generate SEO and share clicks, and therefor more views.

And here is my suggestion, I think there should be a highest voted of all time page, so that we can all look at the best posts of Steemit, and then we can see what else those people have posted that we may not have seen. And it could work like a ranking system, like top 10, or top 50, or top 100, or even top 1000. That would also promote sharing on other platforms, because when people see a really awesome post, they may want to share the link to another website. And then more people will hear about Steem by seeing the best posts first.

I found this post through googling Steemit Beta - so that's quite cool. Great info and I sure hope to see more growth here on Steemit. I'm sure we will as standard social media is such a time-sucker, it would be awesome to be paid for that time.
