Like you conclude, I think human cloning with the purpose of giving our available medical treatments a huge boost is a good thing

It's a touchy issue, most view cloning as playing God. So the resistance to it is mostly on ethical grounds

I am one against cloning (just my opinion). I do think this is playing God and this is something that I am just not wanting to be done.
