A prayer about Desires

When I need insight into my own desires

“The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth. He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He also will hear their cry and save them.” (Psalm 145:18-19)

Lord God,
I need discernment. There is something I want, and I just can’t stop thinking about it. I don’t know if what I desire is good or bad, but it is constantly in my thoughts. I’m feeling so confused. Please, meet me in this moment with the insight I need. You know all things, even the deep recesses of my heart. You know what the long-term outcome of my choice will be. O God, please shine your light on this desire. If it is wrong, expose it for the foolishness that it is. But if my motives are pure, then affirm me in my spirit. Either way, I need to be at peace with you! You are my counselor and my friend. I trust that you will show me the truth about what I desire.
