Money was not the main reason I joined Steemit

When I cruise round Steemit I notice that the majority of people on here seem completely money oriented. Don't get me wrong that is a motivation, yet, for me it was not the main reason for getting back on social media -- I was looking for connection to others and great interactions, the things I had on other sites before they went all, own your content, photos, and soul (joking about the soul), the whole being spied on and tracked thing is a real bummer.

The short amount of time I've been here I have found some great folks posting on subjects I'm interested in. I find myself looking forward to future post by these people, this is the first layer of payout for me, I learn, or am entertained, or am moved in some way, enrichment is a way to put it.

I am still learning how all this works. Clearly, from my wallet I am not doing well, yet this does not bother me. The prompt to contribute content that I am proud to have my name attached to is a bigger deal, a greater success in that I am producing something each day, am taking the time to slow down and read what others are sharing and am generally getting my creative juices flowing for the projects I'm working on in my life aside from the interwebs.

I must confess that the thought of doing well here is intoxicating, however, I feel that if that were my soul focus I would lose some of the magic in my being true to myself... doing it for the money is simply not how I'm wired. I collect old silver that has patina, that has a function, and is beautiful first, not because it's got monetary value in the long haul, that is the bonus, not the focus. It is this same principle that I live by in everything I do, Steemit included.

So far this has been a pleasure pursuit, an aside from my daily life, my morning paper over tea. Thank you Steemit. <3
