How much lower does it need to go?

in #steemit8 years ago (edited)

Whenever there's a post pointing out the problems within steemit it's being ignored, sometimes even downvoted by the whales ...

So ... how much lower does the value of SBD have to fall until the whales are finally able to admit that they're wrong and I'm right?

The whales lost millions in the last few months, yet they're all convinced that if it wasn't for them Steemit wouldn't be able to function. This while the whales consuming 90% of the steem power is the problem. The whales are the problem!

Steemit was meant to be a decentralized platform, but as long 30 whales and their minions consume 90% of the steem power; it's not decentralized and that's why it's failing!

What's at the core of the problem is that the whales, just like the very vast majority of the people are scared of their own shame. They don't understand that although shame is a very unpleasant feeling, it fulfills a very positive function; it's how we learn, it's how we prevent making the same mistakes twice ... it's by embracing the shame that we become better people.

So, whales ... listen to me; if Michiel Van Kets tells you to stop voting because you're skewing the results and by doing so destroying steemit; just stop fucking voting already, you bunch of fucking idiots!

You lost a huge amounts of money the last few months ... how come? Because I'm the only one around here with the balls to call you a bunch of fucking idiots!

You're a bunch of fucking idiots; that's the problem. And the price consistently dropping PROVES that!

And I'm allowed to say that because I already explained all this a month ago, but none of you fucking narcissists listen to me, so then what happened? You lost a few million more = you're a bunch of idiots!

So ... give me the power to clean up this mess ... or ... keep losing massive amounts of money ... your choice.

I'm right here; I can fix this mess, but first you need to admit that there's only 1 reason why you lost so much money lately; you're a fucking idiot, and as long you insist in betraying yourself by believing your own lies ... you're a fucking idiot!

The whales immediately need to stop voting, as that's what's fucking everything up!

Sort:

Steemit was meant to be a decentralized platform, but as long 30 whales and their minions consume 90% of the steem power; it's not decentralized and that's why it's failing!

Can you explain why do you think this is the reason?

I really do like decentralization, but it's not a miracle medicine that will cure everything.

I can't see much benefit of new blockchain project having lots of decentralization. New projects have to be able to develop quickly and that's really hard when everything is decentralized.

It's much better to keep the project mostly centralized in the beginning and when it matures, let the decentralization happen.

well, there are 2 different parts to it;

the development, which is in the hands of a small group of people, which means it's centralized, but that's about the internal system, while it's countered by 19 witnesses

but I'm referring to the votes; there are about 30 whales that have so much more power than the average user, that a vote of the average user simply doesn't matter ... and that's why people are leaving in droves

whether or not a posts starts trending totally depends on those 30 whales, if they don't vote for your post, you get absolutely nothing

because those 30 whales take away everybody else's voting power, which is why voting is no fun, as it is pointless, while only posts that get votes from whales will trend and make money ... and that's why steemit is consistently losing users

there are no real investors, because those people, like me, who invest a bit of money to see how it works will soon find out, it basically doesn't work, because those 30 whales consume 90% of the voting power, which is why buying steem power is extremely expensive and thus pointless

If you were a whale, would you consider growing your wealth? Or would you do the "right thing?"

I would grow my wealth by doing the right thing ... by allowing steemit to work as it was meant to work, instead of reducing my wealth by skewing the results

it's not about doing the right thing, it's about mathematics; the whales consume 90% of the voting power, which skews the results and that's why their wealth is vanishing as snow in the sun ... it's about the facts!

look here;
http://steemwhales.com/smooth
smooth lost more than $1.000.000 in the last 30 days ... they're not growing their wealth, they're fucking it up!

Welllll the whales that create new users and up-vote themselves do grow their wealth. I will check it out!

take a good look at the stats; the price crashed, users are leaving, posts are down ... nobody is creating any wealth, we're all losers here

I'm still making money here. I don't think that is losing...

well, it's about the big picture ... and I still believe that in the long run it will be ok, but only because I'm here to kick some ass and fix it ;-)

Good point. The price got so high that the rewards were unrealistic before. We can still make rewards but for some of those who were around when the price was $5 it can feel like like the whole building is crumbling... When in fact it's not a building falling, it's more like a hot air balloon coming down slow as it needs to because we can't keep our head in the clouds forever!

@luminousvisions
It is a real shame that you resort to name calling, because I think you have a valid argument that I would like to see the whales debate so Steemit can be better, but the name calling cheapens the argument to the point were it may be doing more harm than good.

I tried nice and friendly;
https://steemit.com/steem/@luminousvisions/safe-steemit-1-day-voting-moratorium-for-the-whales
but that didn't work, so now I'm trying another tactic ...

as long those whales keep screwing everything up ... none of it matters; steemit is dying

That is a very interesting post, I mentioned the no voting for a day in a podcast last week. Curie is really the only way for new people to have success here, but it seems like the only solutions that are ever proposed for rewarding minnows is to create more whales (curie) which makes me wonder if we are harming the community in the long run.

thanks

don't wonder; the whales consume 90% of the voting power and that's why steemit is dying;
