I'm sure something similar will turn up in a few years time. Look at virtual reality, it was the next big thing, then it pretty much disappeared...and now we have Oculus Rift, Playstation VR etc.
I really want AR to take off, it looks more cool than VR. And I have to wear glasses anyway...
