RE: WHY CONTESTS ARE IMPORTANT IF YOU ARE A NEWBIE ON STEEMIT

in #steemit6 years ago

I could not agree more! I actually made a video on this very subject a couple weeks ago. I think the most important thing is not actually winning a contest, but participating in it. You not only get a chance to put yourself out there, but it gives you the opportunity to communicate with other users. When I enter contests, I always make it a point to upvote and comment on other entries. It creates a feeling of success and acknowledgement for people, even if they do not get voted up. And honestly, you can make a lot of cool friends that way as well. There are some extremely talented people entering (and running) the contests. I suggest participating in one of two repeatedly. See what you can learn from the winners. See what you can do to promote them, even if you don't take home the bag o' cash. It's so seldom I win, but I do them anyway!

Completely agree! When I first came to Steemit I wrote a lot of poetry and I was a weekly participant in @robyneggs's Poetry Dice Challenge. I met a lot of Steemians there who I still interact with a year later. As far as I'm concerned, even if you don't win the contest you're still coming out ahead. Thanks for the feedback. It's always appreciated!
