Contests are not just for winning and earning cash. If you play it right, you can gain more followers and votes just by entering contests, even if you don't win a thing!

Here's a couple of quick tips to increase your visibility and boost morale on steemit at the same time:

1. Comment and curate fellow contestants' entries into contests you are entering as well. This boosts them up to the top of the page and helps them feel good about what they did. And when they see who did it, they may just thank you with a follow or a vote as well! Contest creators also appreciate contestants who support other contestants. If you make a habit out of it, you may get asked to be a judge on a panel, or join a team to help promote the contest as well. You never know.

2. Look up some of the contestants' profiles and see if they are worth following in general. Be sure and upvote and comment on something they do that you happen to really like. You may have found yourself a new friend to tuck away into your steemit experience.

3. The more contests you enter, and the more consistent you are about entering them, the more visibility you'll get in general both by other users and by contest creators as well. This only boosts reputation and helps you get connections you need to succeed on steemit.

4. Do not gripe about not getting the winning vote. Don't complain or criticize the entries that won. And don't beg for the contest creator to pick you. They'll pick you if they pick you. If you find that you are steadily NOT getting picked as a winner for contests, then come talk to me. I can help you win them. But in general, the rule is you just need to be putting out quality stuff. There is stiff competition out there.
