My First 45 Days On STEEMIT - Post #40

Oh how sweet this is; day 45 as a STEEMIAN. May this good platform grow beyond all of our expectations, the visionaries reap their good harvests, the minnows grow up so big they are whales of the future, while I sit and relax as being part of all of our lives here. Thank you so much STEEMIT for approving my account registration to begin with……...

--

OBSERVATIONS BOTH GOOD AND BAD

For this my 45th day as a STEEMIAN, I will start with my overall assessments of my STEEMIT experiences. I will do these assessments every 45 days running, which will only mean that the next “45 Days Report” will be on my 90th day as a STEEMIAN (cross my fingers!). This will be a bit lengthy in words maybe, but hey, this is a report right?

My main purpose in these report posts is to express my own observations and opinions in accordance with it so that I can then offer my unsolicited fixes, of course all of it is for the reading consumption of everyone. I believe that STEEMIT will become like a worldwide of Earth “universal diary”, which can only mean that whatever I will write here will have the chance to be read by the future generations, possibly reaching the time when the price of STEEM is about 10000 (10k) dollar. How privileged will I be when the future STEEMIANS will see these “45 Days Reports” and will exclaim: “Surely this man here gave good and honest opinions!!!”

Why every 45 days you may ask me? My answer to this question may be best described on another post.

THE VISIONARIES ARE THE ONES SHAPING THIS PLATFORM

As in every population, there is always the good ones and the bad ones.

This is very much displayed in the ways that our perceived leaders here do their daily tasks. The visionaries will be in the good force as far as the STEEMIT eco-system is concerned.

In my first observations, the STEEMIT platform is being carried (at least as of this writing) thru the shoulders of the whales, the witnesses (which some are whales as well) and the “gifted” STEEMIANS (which some are also witnesses). The whales bring in the dollars, the witnesses brings in the hardwork while the gifted ones brings in the good contents. All three are clearly the prime movers of STEEMIT, one of the best approaches to cryptocurrency.

This is the very reason as to why I will always encourage the whales and the witnesses to be vigilant with the minnows and redfishes, because I can see based from these visionaries that the “few” who will really bring about the STEEMIT revolution will be coming from the “gifted” visionaries, not from the whales, not from the witnesses.

I really salute the whales who are actively involved to “share” their resources just to encourage more activities. The people who are seemingly tireless in uplifitng others, thank yo so much my friend/s you know who you are. You are the very people that will carry “all of us” higher and higher, please do not tire up in doing so.

For all the biggest initiatives that this world offered, was it not coming from only one person (or a few)? What makes us think STEEMIT is any different? One whale, or one witness, or even one “gifted” newcomer will change our lives forever here.

This is also the main reason why I will always encourage the whales and the influencers to always look for this magic formula of a person, the one or those ones that STEEM POWER has no effect on.

You know who you are guys, the visionaries. I can compare all of you as like the new explorers of our present time, able to see the past while giving good guides about the future. All of you "combined", even if just a few, can surely conquer every challenge as STEEMIT will move up the crypto ladder. Your unselfish but wise efforts on STEEMIT will surely not go in vain.

BAD APPLES AROUND ARE CRIPPLING THIS PLATFORM

We now go to the bad apples in the hope that we can make good Apple Cider Vinegars.

The Self-upvoting Whales

Self-upvoters that has only one thing in mind: TO SUCK THE REWARD POOL DRY FOR THEMSELVES. I am a big fan of self-upvote in fact (for good posts only, not comments no matter how good), especially for good and honest-to-goodness initiatives. In fact, I can only describe them (whoever they may be) as one money-worshipper that does his job in full view of everyone. Let me throw this question for the money-worshippers: “What about you give back half of the rewards to the redfishes and minnows and in a way that encourages real and honest hardwork?” If one does this, STEEMIT will surely grow because the ones below grows as well.

Can we not observe as to why the world is full of poor people? I will give one reason, and this is because the one’s up there keeps amassing wealth to no end. Their folly keeps them to a certain limit going up the wealth ladder. If we try to think harder, if only the wealthy ones “share” to the poor and give each one the chance to grow, then the wealth of the one giving will never stop growing because the ones below keeps growing up as well!!! Can anybody even see this as very much applicable to the STEEMIT community? This platform already gave us the system to do this, it is now up to the people here to use it the “unselfish” way if we really want to grow unlimited.

The Let-Me-Be-The-First Developers

Another group of bad apples are tech-savvy STEEMIANS that teach “not all” here as far as the STEEMIT technical platform is concerned. I have seen some to-do lists of programmers that seems very good really, however, I can also foresee that the consequence of such advanced list will give him the reason not to “teach and fully expound” the very programming skills behind such projects for fear of being overtaken. Not all maybe, but I am sure there are many. This is also the part of the bad apples that I can really proclaim that if only the whales up there are keen enough to spot the good and honest to goodness ones, then everybody will not be keeping “good knowledge” for themselves but will surely share it because it will give them more leverage. As an intriguing question related to this:

“Did you know that it is very easy to utilize the STEEM blockchain and use it as a login mechanism for any website?”

--

In other words, one can make any website’s login users as the same users of the STEEM blockchain. Are the majority of STEEMIANS even aware of such very nice leverage? I will give a very good reason why this knowledge should be shared, and one of it is this:

“If a non-STEEM website can utilize the STEEM blockchain for users, it is therefore doable that many online stores can “ACCEPT AND EXCHANGE PAYMENTS” using the STEEM crypto”

--

Is it not to the good of STEEM and STEEMIT if more users use it as a crypto of choice for payments? Knowledge will always be beneficial, especially the ones given out of ones good intentions.

On the same scene that merits mentioning on this report, this guy’s post is very good and he is one very good programmer, why the very low reward of 1.11 SBD? For all good sakes he is teaching a very deep and brilliant solution guys! Here is his 1 SBD post (while other crappy ones receive hundreds!!!):

https://steemit.com/dawn-network/@l0k1/how-to-convert-the-entire-steem-blockchain-into-json-format-using-a-python-script

Is this not because there are already bad-apple witnesses on the front seat and is very much “insecure” of him (or any other newcomer devs) being very smart? I will share to everyone why this post of “@l0k1” is very much worth into the thousands, because if one has the entire STEEM blockchain into a file, this programmer whoever he may be will have the chance to do this using said JSON file:

“QUERY everything STEEM on a file “as if” you are connected to the blockchain”

--

With the new bigdata tools that reads very huge JSON files lightning fast, and we now have a new way of “UNLOADING” the RPC nodes’ very crucial job. What is an RPC node? It is the very service/server of good information that all STEEMIT services use. Let me move on further, because if one has a file representing the full blockchain, and in JSON format, then this only means one thing:

“In the future, when the STEEM blockchain (or any blockchain for that matter) will grow to be very huge, a memory run will not be possible for a server that is maintained “at a personal level” (just like what we do now) as it will need maybe hundreds or thousands of gigabytes of memory. But if we plan ahead, “divide everything” into files, present each file as like catalogs (A to C, D to F, G to I, etc etc) for example, then we now have a way to “distribute” this huge file. With this distributed approach comes “distributed processing”, say WITNESS1 serves A to C, WITNESS2 serves D to F, etc going up the letters, and we will have a STEEM platform that will grow “the sky is the limit””

--

The described letters above are just an example, because we can also catalog any data using dates, and if you are a programmer reading this, you can clearly see what I meant here about sky is the limit possibilities. Right at this moment, even if STEEM is peer-to-peer, but each peer holds the same blockchain (RPC node as mentioned above), this will be a limitation clearly, especially because our nodes are all run by good people that can not simply afford in the millions of dollars computer processors as in whole DATACENTER grade. The solution? We need to keep the blockchain as “distributed” as possible, and it can only be made possible if we will catalog the “ever growing” blockchain data, make it more manageable in a personal computer level, so that in the future, ordinary but very brilliant developers will continue on in taking care of this very good platform, not greedy multi-billion companies. Good and ordinary hacker-grade witnesses will be our good future guys, make no mistake about this, not greedy corporations with multi-million dollar datacenters.

Again, believe me all of you, this is my job in the past twenty years, I design and strategize I.T. Systems approaches, and I am giving all these infos for free here, I am not even expecting for this post to reach a hundred dollars. This is just pure concern for all of this very good platform, may the ones up high heed this very technical message.

Let us think ahead guys, not with blocked visions. But nobody explains things here the way I just did right? Why? Bad apples. I really think they know this fact, but they will just tell bits and pieces.

The RESTEEM-For-A-Fee Accounts

The last bad apple for me (at least the crippling ones) are these “RESTEEM FOR A FEE” accounts. My idea is very simple for them, and I will say this in question form:

“Why not just resteem any good posts without any fee?”

--

The crypto approach wants to “eliminate” middlemen right? No matter how I analyze these accounts, they are middlemen here, in fact they block the chance of a good redfish and minnow to be seen by many due to the fact that the said poor minnow/redfish needs a FEE to go the other side. What a way to block others’ good chance of success in this very good platform of STEEMIT. Another very bad and crippling effect is the fact that these resteemers do not really need good posts, they just need the dough. So this in turn encourages one-liner posts to proliferate, thereby increasing more chances of “robotic” upvoting. If say these accounts are all owned by just one person, resteemed, and then those waiting are also robots, can we not see the dangers here? I am not saying that it is, I am saying that this is possible in the given situation.

I am even starting to think how they have reached such a very high number of followers.

MY REPORT IS TO LAY DOWN THE BAD SO THAT THE GOOD WILL PREVAIL

I know I sound a bit negative, but my intention is to have a powerful message, to be heard, no not for my own gain because I gain nothing in reporting it this way.

My appeal please is for the influencers and prime movers of STEEMIT to find a way at the platform side on how to minimize the crippling effects of the bad apples. I have a very good feeling about STEEM and STEEMIT, that this will benefit all of us for sure. The main thing (I know there are many) stopping us all here to fly high are the bad apples’ practices, gaining all for themselves a hundred when instead he could have gained a thousand if he gave ten to a minnow (if you can see my very point here).

I am not giving up, because the good apples are mentioned firstly on this report. It is to them that I will give my full trust, and to them that I will dedicate all my efforts for the STEEMIT community.

Until my next report on day 90 as a STEEMIAN……...
