Piazza Navona, Pantheon and Campo Di' Fiori in Rome, Italy

Hello Steemit community,

I am so excited to blog about my trip to Rome, Italy as it was somewhere that I had longed to visit for many years. Italy is one of my favourite European countries, if not my favourite, due to its elegance, beauty and charm no matter where you visit. I have visited Lake Garda (absolutely magical) and Naples in the past but was excited to see what the capital had to offer. What I was particularly looking forward to was knowing that everything was in walking distance in the city- it is evident that I am fond of this from my previous blogs!

So we left London at 8AM in order to arrive in Rome by lunch time and make use of our first day there. Although tired we were eager to pack the day full of sightseeing in order to see everything in 3 days. Our hotel was a 5-minute walk from Piazza Navona so that is where we began our Rome adventure.

It was beautiful! I instantly fell deeply in love with this city. However, there was something that was about to make me more in love with it- the gelato!! We scooted around the back streets in order to find some gelato and returned to the fountains to enjoy the spectacular sights a bit more.

After a sufficient amount of photo-taking we moved on to the Pantheon, only about a 10-minute walk from Piazza Navona. It was also wonderful. Especially inside where you could see the huge hole in the architecture of the dome. The hole I believe resembles the eye of God. It is apparently the largest unsupported dome in the world. I find it fascinating that is managed to survive all the raids, which other Roman monuments failed to do! Anyhow, I am so glad it survived as it was truly magical.

We were blessed with a gorgeous sunny day and therefore looked for somewhere outside to enjoy an evening meal. With a recommendation from a friend, we decided to make our way to Campo Di' Fiori, a beautiful square about 20 minutes walk away, which was vibrant and full of small quaint restaurants. There we went to a restaurant called Numbs. I had a gorgeous seafood linguine whilst my boyfriend had meatball spaghetti (very Italian!). Overal, it was a wonderful day in Rome.
