Why You Should Buy Bitcoin? Pros and Cons
Bitcoin is hot, really really hot. The price of bitcoin is currently trading at $4,333 and is showing no major signs of slowing down. You are wondering to yourself, is it too late? Should I hop on hope for the best or is it way too overvalued at the moment. Below are some of the pros and cons to getting started with bitcoin. Let's have a look
PROS
The Bitcoin craze is far from over and it seems to have quickly replaced gold as the the standard for safe haven investment.
1.) Market Uncertainty
With political turmoil constantly oozing out of major media outlet, the stock market has been reacting with unprecedented
highs with little fundamental value to show for it. Investors are constantly on the lookout for the next market correction.
They are living in fear as to when the next 2008 hit will come. This has made the stock market very uncertain for traditional
investors and they are looking elsewhere to allocate their hard earned money. Buying bitcoin can be a solid hedge against
market uncertainty. Bitcoin has a fixed amount of quantity available which makes it difficult to manipulate. You can't issue
more shares and you really can't split it like you can with traditional stocks.
2.) Liquidity
Bitcoin is the most liquid of all the other crypto-currencies on the market today. All major countries, and financial
institutions are slowly adopting in their primary payment methods which will only go on to add further liquidity to the
market.
3.) It's Extremely Popular
The astronomical rise in popularity for bitcoin has created many new millionaires and opportunities for people to earn
money on the side. This has caused the price of bitcoin to continue rising steadily over any other trading instrument
around. It has created a whole new industry and is continually creating more and more jobs over the world as technology
continues to evolve around it.
CONS
1.) Nothing fundamental
Bitcoin is simply an invented algorithm. It's not like dollar bills you can hold in your hand. The value of bitcoin is based on
too many different variables to list. It's tough to really derive at its true fundamental value when very few people
understand how block-chain and the algorithms behind it truly work.
2.) Fast Prices
The value of bitcoin can fall and rise by hundreds of dollars a day. Most people don't want to invest in something extremely
volatile which isn't even trading over a regulated exchange. It creates a fear among people, but at the end of the day it's
returns are more alluring.
3.) Substitutes
There are many other crypto-currencies that are constantly popping up that could potentially outgrow bitcoin and even
surpass it. It's only a matter of time. Cryptos like Ethereum, Litecoin and Ripple are slowly on the rise and beginning to gain
major popularity among crypto traders, miners and engineers.
One thing is for certain, bitcoin has created opportunities for our modern day society that will revolutionize how we use and value money in the future.
