Is this a social media movement?

I trawl through the content on Steemit regularly just to see its current state of affairs. It's disheartening that while there are "social media" posts from those I follow, on occasions they do post other content borderlining on anything other than "social media" related.

It's the OCD on me but I don't want my feed to be filled with nothing other than getting to know you better. E.g @purepinay
