The result of the content and the reward is determined not by the community Steemit, and a handful of wealthy "whales". What is the meaning of freedom in your opinion? I think it is freedom when you can put effort in (work hard / be smart / invest) to improve your influence. In a free world everyone should have the opportunity to reach the top, in Steemit this is the case and there are several ways to do it (so if your not strong, you can be smart).
If all up votes should count even, what would be the reason for people to keep the earnings from their effort in the environment? Why should someone doing almost nothing for the platform have the same influence as a hard worker?
Your profit will depend on the quality of your content, not how much steem power you buy.

Steem power is the 'bomb' that destroys its intention. It is the shortcut & freedom ticket for the wealthy. This platform is evidently designed to benefit handful of rich users & dev team only.
If the ever growing users' frustrations are not addressed soon, we will see the explosion of that steem power.
