I did 3 months of fall + 1 of winter in the mountains. Do NOT let yourself run out pf fuel! Be it wood, kerosene, of gas, if you run out you will die. Food and water become secondary in the cold.
It gave me a new perspective on the trials of civilization. I see others who did the same, in some form, and have that detachment from society. It's nice. I know if I lose my job, home, or whatever: I will survive.
