RE: A Dreemit's Steemit Guide for Newbies AND an Earnest Look for Veterans

Excellent summary.

One other thing to add is approaching people in SteemitChat. In general, before messaging someone in Chat I would recommend:

  • Ideally have some interaction with them in post comments, so that they know who you are
  • Let them know in a comment that you intend to message them
  • When you message, don't just say Hello. Say something like "Hello. I'd like to talk to you in private about ..."

If I see a message in Chat from someone I've never interacted with and they just say "Hello" - sorry, but I just ignore it. If I saw a message saying, for eg "I see you've done some recipes for people with allergies. Can I ask you some questions about that?" I would happily respond.

Any other thoughts on etiquette for Chat?

What do you mean" Steemit Chat"? - I thought you were busy - you won't see me wasting time on there, I've got work to do!
Here is a photo I just took of your desk:

My desk does feel like that some days...

Awesome, yes, that's a great tip. As I just told @hanshotfirst, I'm glad I waited to vote (waiting for my power to get up there) because now I can position helpful additions to the post at the top.

Actually, I should have thought of this since I had an interaction with a new guy on chat. He approached it perfectly, and we are fast becoming friends :)
