Funny how you upvoted yourself though...
I'm not a whale. I do it to increase exposure, not to get, uh, 1 penny...
Maybe they do it for the same reason. The rewards are realative. You have $100 at stake. Whales have hundreds of thousands at stake.
Or they pay themselves $8 for posting "Good post." That's just abusing the system.
I've never seen that. But at the end of the day they can pay themselves 1000 times what you can pay yourself because they have 1000 times what you have invested in the system. They have more to lose than you do for abusing the system. Like 1000 times what you have to lose.
At this point they don't have much to lose by abusing the system. The system allows for it, and greed will always find a way if it's allowed.
They do have a lot to lose. If their abuse ruins the platform then the millions they have tied up in SP will be lost. What they stand to lose is proportional to their upvote power.
