"AWOLOWO PLANT" - A Gift from God

**INTRODUCTION**

In the creation plan of God, there was provision for everything. Plants, animals, fruits and herbs were also created for man's consumption ( some for food while some had special purposes like the herbs)

See Genesis 1:11.

As a medical personnel, and a living testament to the healing properties of this herb, it's my pleasure to educate us a little about the medicinal herb called AWOLOWO PLANT in Nigeria

**BRIEF HISTORY**

Awolowo plant also called Independence leaf was discovered in Nigeria shortly after our Independence from the colonial rule in 1960.
Some persons said maybe it was one of God's way to soothe and heal our pains as a Nation, but I believe it was a beautiful coincidence.
The fact still remains that this plant is a very potent clotting agent as well as a wound healer
The plant is very invasive and can sometimes be classified as a grass because of the rate at which it grows.
The plant can grow more than 3cm per day in favourable conditions (a potential threat to our crops).

**NOMECLATURE**

It is known scientifically as Chromolaena odorata.
It is a flowering shrub and belong to the sunflower family..

**DESCRIPTION**

It is a herb, with soft stems and woody base
The plant is hairy and smells like alcohol when crushed
The leaves are small, somehow triangular with serated edges
The flowers are white and forms at the end of the branches

You must admit that this plant is lovely 😁. Isn't it???

** WHERE IS THIS PLANT FOUND**

It is found predominantly in West Africa, South and North America, Texas, Mexico and some part of Asia and Australia.

Outside Nigeria, this plant is called Siam weed

**TRADITIONAL USES**

Everything I will share here is Orthodox and nothing but the truth and I'm a living witness
I grew up watching my late Grandma use this leaf in so many ways for different purposes and she got result.

**Below are some of it's uses**

This plant can arrest both internal and external bleeding within minutes if applied correctly...

When you sustain an injury, the CARDINAL SIGNS are often manifested within minutes.

Signs like

Inflammation, redness, heat, pain, bleeding and spasms.

How to apply this leaf to achieve this?

(a). For open wound:

Pick fresh leaves from the plant, rinse them with clean water and crush them between your palm
Squeeze the extract and apply the liquid directly to the injured site.

Warning!!!!.. Get ready to dance afterwards because it's going to cause a burning sensation at first, but will stop the bleeding within 5 minutes

(b). For internal bleeding:-

Pick a handful of succulent leaves
Wash and blend them for 5 minutes
Filter the supernatant and dry them or discard them if you have no need for them
Pour the juice into a clean glass cup and drink up😁

2 **Anti-inflammatory agent**:-

Treat the same way you treat open injury and leave tiny pieces of the leave on the inflamed area

3 **Used as a powerful analgesic (pain releiver)**

Apply the mashed leaf particles to the site and tie it will a clean bangage
Allow it to spend 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on the degree of the pain

4 It can combat both bacteria and fungal growth.

The liquid and extract from the leaf will sanitize the wound and keep if free from pathogens

5 I have seen my grandma boil the leaves from this medicinal herb, allow it to cool down and she would store the greenish water in a a clean bottle and force us to drink this..

It's either you drink it or you risk offending her...

You don't want to offend Grandma 😞.

Drinking this soup will:-

Enhance blood circulation
Cure cough and catarrh
Can also boost the immune system

**CONCLUSION**

Awolowo plant is a blessing from God, natural and I'm proud to be among those to have benefited from this plant.
This plant could actually save your life and save you from bleeding out when you're in the forest or get stranded in the forest

**RECOMMENDATION**

I want extensive research to be carried out on this plant both and ask the World Health Organization to look into this plant because of its wide therapeutic advantages
I want to see this medicinal herb find it's way into the drug market. That means we must look for a way to turn this plant into tablets, syrups without altering it's therapeutic effects as well as creat a baseline for it's administration in order to prevent MISUSE
