The Future of Steemit - Connecting People

With this platform I could see some possible directions it could take:

Freedom from censorship

I remember back in the early days of the internet, how wild it was. You could write almost anything (within reason) on forums without the fear of censorship. Today we have to be politically correct (aka PC) if you want to express yourself. Also, certain groups are trying to push their agenda to herd the crowd. I really do not like the way we are heading today towards a control society (aka 1984).

Anonymity for those who need it

One of the great ideas I think with Steemit is that people could tell the truth to the world without fear of retaliation. We need to have the truth for several reasons, if we want a truly functional society. Personally, my problem with denying anonymity on forums is the trend to deny usage of nicknames. Why? Just why? This is a way of robbing people's freedom. I do not like it at all.

Connecting like minded people

With this platform has the potential to create new ideas and to share them with everyone willing to listen. Sharing ideas and experiences back and forth is a great way to make like minded friends. I think we lost something valuable back before the industrialisation era started, back then people was connected to their society. Today I think we need it, just better through the internet. Why should age, gender and now location matter?

Profit from participating in the community

For me this was an eye opener, like really? I could get paid to comment stuff. Wait, what? This would also be a self strengthening for the community as it rewards people that are participating. Why should big known companies get paid for your time and work? (not mentioning names). This will probably attract more people towards this platform, gravitating towards profits.

Income v2.0

This could evolve into a new type of job profession (hypothetically speaking) in the future, writing articles that have value to the society. So to speak a by-pass to make a liveable income. Jobs are hard to come by these days, and it is probably not get any better as time goes by, because of automation are getting better and better. Anyway, why should we humans sacrifice our little precious time that we have on Earth to just work. Why? Well, that is another discussion for later.

The problem with Bitcoin

As much as I like bitcoins, it is difficult to earn. Whereas steem is earned by participating in the community. One of the great things with Steem, is it circulates the power in the community (again hypothetically speaking). If it does not circulate then it is technically dead (in this case the community), this is also one of the big problems we face with the global economy today.

Universal Basic Income

While politicians try to wrap their heads around UBI, we all could openly discuss it with open minds. How do we create the new welfare and to take back the power to the people. Because of automation this has to happen one way or another, or else the money would cease to exist.

World problems

Steemit I think is well suited to have discussions about our BIG problems humanity faces, and hopefully find some good solutions. For instance environmental problems, say like bleaching of the coral reefs, deforestations etc. Can humanity solve it in a smart and peaceful way? I have been pondering on it, I think I have some solutions, but then again, I am not an expert by far. But I love the nature!

Community shared educations

As much as I like education, it has been out of touch with the real world. Also, it leaves young people with a HUGE disadvantage in their early life. Why can’t young people be allowed to enjoy their life too? (at least in my country, can’t speak for the rest of the world though). This platform could be a way to educate people on their own terms, seeking answers from people in the community. After all, people are rewarded by writing about relevant stuff. Let us say you are 15 years old and you got an idea for creating your own business, that person would just ask, and piece by piece puzzle their own company together. Why would that person drown themselves with a MASSIVE amount of debt, just to hopefully get to a job? Again, this is just a possibility, or should I dare say profitable.

Global Silicon Valley

Today, Silicon Valley is an entrepreneurial hub. Lots of startups located there. Why should the location be a factor? Everything can be done through the internet from home. Piece together a tech product and then just 3d-print it and assemble, etc. It can be done! Using Steemit as a work platform does have some advantages: No traveling, no commuting costs, no pollution, and possible more nature :)

But all of this depends on spreading the word to other people. Of course take all of this with a BIG grain of salt. I am new to Steemit, but I instantly got hooked when I did learn about it.

Is Steemit the future?
