We are going to talk about what can be done to keep the daily "robberies" of the prize pool on the minimum. I come across this super cool funny post, and it was an inspiration for this one I guess. Ty @stellabelle ;)
Okay, so I have no idea why is this even possible?
I get all the other "free" social networks, like yourself until your fingers fall off, be my guest... Less trolling here on @steemit!
But if we are honest, most of us do it! Some are just looking to "rape" the prize pool, and get that $$$ they don't give an f%&$ about Steemit.com as a community, they do, cuz they wanna see it last of course, so they could profit from it.
WHY upvote your own post?
Just a few words about my first few days here. I did a post, and since I did not write in English for some time it took me 4ever to do it. And in auto-mode I just upvoted myself. Even saw a STUPID YouTube video, in which this guy tells how you need to upvote yourself to get an extra boost or something... WTF!?!? Would love to find you today and "slay" you TROLL!
Anyways self-upvote is on a minnows menu every day of the week. Yeah, I said it!
Lots of us do it, lots of us think that's not cool but still do it, and some just do it for "the sake of an upvote".
BUT WHAT IS 0.01, 0.10$ "vs" 10, 50, 100$?
I do not remember but a while ago I saw a "stupid" Whale post it goes something like that:

Since only 5 other fellow "idiots" upvoted,

It was an s&%$ post which obviously made him 60$ on its own and it was gross to see honestly, it gives minnow who see that crap an idea:

We wanna keep folks that work hard on every post or at least share something short and useful, right? Hey @whales and @dolphins you guys help a lot but try to help us even more..."greedy mode on"...LMAO

I guess if you do not spam a person with it, or if you have something useful to share on the topic, it "can"be done. But if you are natural with it and comment a lot, they will be seen eventually. That is a 100%. Not a 100% upvote! Do not get excited to fast "Ha Ha"
In general, I think it should be DISABLED! But what do I know, right? Just a @minnow trying to make it:P One should upvote your comment cuz he likes it, not cuz you like it LOL, but there are cases in which some people just upvote them selfs and others with 100% or something and me dunno what to think about that. Good/Bad what do you think guys?

So this could pass. But with a limited SteemPower. The less the better! I know, you could still upvote yourself from other accounts and I know people do that all the time. Stupidity or genius? You be the judge of it, I know what I think:) After working hours on a post it feels good to add to value for hard work, still, I try to avoid it... :/
Hey, all the smart people out there!
Develop something @ned, @dan or whoever, a tool or something... Make a downvote bot with a gazillions $ SP on it, for self-upvoters, and see how fast will things change;) People would think twice about it!

Not being able to promote my own posts and comments would decrease the value of the SP I have significantly, if self votes were banned or overly penalized I would likely powerdown and cash out. As I assume would others and that would lead to a permanent price crash.
Someone that self posts crap posts and are the only voter gets less than a person self voting a good post that others support. So the bigger part of the pool will drift to people post good quality whether they self post or not. and crap posters while making money will get a shrinking size of the pool.
A better way to deal with self posters that are crap posting is to downvote them. I think steemit would be a healthier place if the stigma of downvoting was removed and it was used more.
Usually I would self promote this comment so it would be higher up the comment section and get read by more people, I feel I earned this right by putting work into the comment and by risking money by investing in steemit, but out of respect to the spirit of this post I will refrain.

It makes the most transfers per second in the crypto world! So i think its not going anywhere even if they disable the self-vote...
About the shit posting yeah, downvoting someone with higher SP than your own, is never a good idea...:P
Without self voting the only advantage to having SP I see is curation rewards, if you believe steem will go up in value you can just hold STEEM so you can have instant access.
You'd be lucky to get 3-5% a year by curation which does not justify locking your STEEM away for.
I think there is a misunderstanding about how much people make from self voting. There is inflation in steemit, if you do not make x% a year you are not beating inflation, I am not sure if self voting can overcome the inflation.
I'm rambling but my point is I will continue to self vote until I see a compelling argument why it either hurts me or the system.

oh shoot. you mean I can't upvote myself 100 bucks anymore? well then, how about you vote me 100, and I'll vote you 100 instead! or if someone catches on, you create 10 accounts to vote for me, and I'll create 10 fake accounts to vote for you!
While I appreciate what you're saying, that's why the problem is a bit more difficult to address than simply disabling self-upvotes. Or in reverse, you can get what happened to my last post, where one whale comes in and downvotes you to zero, negating hundreds of other upvotes in a single click.
