In a small town, a certain man came back unexpectedly from a business trip and caught his wife naked in his matrimonial bed with another man ( I guess you know what they were doing naked). Instead of reacting the way most jealous husbands would, he rather left quietly and went straight to the sitting room where he switched on the TV set and started watching his favorite TV series. From his strange action and having caught them red handed, the wife and her boy friend were in panic. The boy quickly got dressed and came down to the sitting room and then said " Sir, I am so sorry for sleeping with your wife, it will never happen again" the husband quietly replied " Son, such happens, you can go". The boyfriend left.

However, the wife never came out from the bedroom due to shame and remorse because of how loving and caring her husband has been to her, moreso she is a leader and convener of the towns family support group where she preaches against infidelity and lectures on what it takes to be a virtuous woman. She remained alone till it was bed time. The husband switched off the Television in the sitting room and went straight to bed. He saw his wife on the bedroom floor crying bitterly but the husband ignored her and never said a word to her. He just laid down on the bed and slept off. In the morning, when the husband woke up from sleep, to his uttermost shock and surprise, he found his wife dead on the bedroom floor! She committed suicide in the middle of the night as her husband was sleeping being that she can not bear the shame and remorse as she fears loosing her husband and what people will say of her actions when the news spreads.

The husband quickly called an ambulance and the police...He was arrested for murder, tried in court and jailed for 35years.

Now my question is!

Who was not fair ?
1.The husband ?
2.The wife ? or
3.The law ?

WOW.. this is such a tragic story - I mean its really hard here because so many are at fault for their own reasons. First, the wife is absolutely not an innocent victim, even though it is heartbreaking that she felt the only way to absolution was through killing herself. I personally feel suicide is not the answer. Each soul has its own learning lessons in this life - we have signed a contract and are meant to come here and expand our consciousness, our empathy, our love for one another - I feel if you commit suicide you are negating this contract and will have to come back and face the same types of learning lessons until the lesson is learned and the soul has been able to grow from it. When you kill yourself you are taking the easy way out and avoiding the lesson to be learned from the outcomes of the choices themselves. The husband, in my opinion, should have tried to talk to the wife - if not to forgive her - at least to acknowledge her. How many have sunk into further sorrow because they have just been completely shunned - I know he was hurting but I think he should have confronted her calmly and explained his disappointment, maybe if he still loved her tried to tell her that as upset as he is and even though she has lost his trust, he still loves her and would want to work things out for her. Unfortunately, the law, while I think they are wrong, in this situation it is very easy for it to be mis-perceived. Another reason why you probably should not ignore conflict - if the husband was so mad that he was uninterested in making amends, he should have asked her to leave. Now, I am not sure what country this family lived in, but I do know that some countries legal systems are way tougher than those here in the USA. Lots of people get tried for crimes here and get put away for things they did not do, however, that happens less frequently than the other alternative where through proper legal counsel and thorough investigations it may come back that there is now way the person committed the crime. I think in other countries there isn't as much investigation - if it looks like you did it - you did it - lock them up and throw away the key. That isn't really fair at all! The issue here is that the husband would definitely have had motive to kill her due to the situation at hand and the disgruntled feelings that spouses can have when they learned that there has been infidelity in the marriage. While it is very possible the wife did commit suicide, the husband would have had the type of motive to kill her and unfortunately that is all the law will see if they do not go back and try to further analyze the situation. This sucks all the way around for everyone.. I feel bad for the husband the most as he probably thought he was doing the right thing to not overreact to the situation, and it is awful that he is being punished for doing so. I hope he finds justice. After all - he lost his wife to cheating on him - then lost her for real - now is locked up.. bless him and keep him strong. Thank you for sharing and creating an intellectual conversation!

very good answer...you did very well....

I will - thank you and I hope you have a wonderful day too :)

always welcome ma'am

you did great

Thanks you ,
You to

for me, i think the all of them are not fair. The man on catching the wife should have spoken with her and scolded her of her actions...asking her what he is not doing right to change if he truly loves her...without sin, there is no forgiveness
the wife should not have cheated in the first place...more so, suicide is not the best option, she should have pleaded and tried to ask for forgiveness

the law may have been to harsh and quick to jump to conclusion but based on the facts before them, they had no option than to find him guilty...

Life itself is not fair...Nemaste!

opps....guilty conscience in action and limitations of justice system...Good post as always. keep it up

I say, the wife was not fair. She cheated on her husband, which was not fair to him, and because she commited suicide, he was imprisoned infairly by the law. The husband would not have been unfairly imprisoned if it was not for the wife cheating and committing suicide. That is why I say it is the wife.

Nice answer...very reasonable...upvoted...hope u upvoted too

as per my understanding ,
Who was not fair ?
1.The husband ?
2.The wife ? or
3.The law ?
three option are not required,if you got to the base of it, husband did not cheated on wife, it is wife who cheated on husband, and husband did not say a word about all this to her is his part of reaction, but still not the violent reaction, if he would have said something harsh, and then she would have committed suicide, whole story would have change and everybody would have blamed husband but he kept his cool," sometimes silence speaks louder than words"
at the end she committed suicide and that was again a mistake, although a bigger one this time, and may be husband could not prove his innocence and got jailed for such long time,, well 35 years kinda mean lifetime imprisonment.
she did worse to him while she was alive and she did far more worst to him after her death.

its just the woman in this story that is to be blamed.

Hi. Been a while. Updated a new post on health...hope you will like the storyline with lesson there...thanks

Both the Law and the Wife were unfair.

The Wife

The wife cheated on her husband, she also did not attempt to approach the husband to discuss what she did, instead turning her sin almost into an excuse making herself the victim and seeking comfort for doing something bad from her husband. That is the behavior of a manipulative co-dependent immoral person.

The Law

The husband did not kill her. He did not know she was going to commit suicide, he simply went to sleep. When he woke up, he reported it to the proper authorities, what else could he have done? This was not neglect of someone in dire need. She was crying. People cry all the time, that does not mean suicidal.

For all we know, the man going to sleep and being fairly apathetic towards the other boy/man was his coping mechanism. Having been in a co-dependent manipulative marriage for as long as he had. For all we knew, he needed the time to think and suppress his anger in order to collect his thoughts and maintain his mature composure moving forward when conversation did happen (if ever).

I'm not sure why this is even a question that should need to be answered. According to the law, and according to societal norms, the husband is not at fault in any way shape or form. The wife was a cheater that handle her sins badly. The man was a victim that handled his burdens in quiet reflection and maturity. The law was wrong any way you look at it.
