Censorship On Steemit (Hide #NSFW Feature Needed)!

In an effort to hide content that they simply disagree with, there are people on Steemit that flag and down vote content that you can easily find on other social media sites like Facebook and Youtube. Not only does the current setup allow censorship, but it makes it so anyone with enough steempower can declare themselves a censor. I love the fact that Steemit is decentralized, but when it comes to censorship, decentralization can be a handicap if you set things up the way they are now.

So I was happy to see that steemit has a #NSFW tag that you can use to supposedly declare your post to be unsuitable for underage viewers or other viewers who simple don't like adult content. Great, except with no option to hide NSFW content, some people on here are still taking it upon themselves to declare themselves the judges of what other should see and read. Maybe such people would still flag and down vote content even if they had the option of filtering it out. There are some who just feel they have to protect the rest of us from content that they decide is immoral.

I apologize if I sound angry, but self righteous people get me that way some times. I recently made a post which I admit was not for everyone. It had adult content, and so I made sure that I included the #nsfw tag. Sure enough, after a couple of hours, someone with the steempower to do so down voted it to oblivion. It didn't matter that I had included the #nsfw tag, or the #adult tag or that I even used the #sex tag. Heck, I tag it as much as I could to let people know that it was adult in nature and should only be clicked on it if that's what they wanted to see. Didn't matter. Some people aren't happy enough to filter for themselves, but they feel they should have the right to filter for people who didn't ask them to.

No Genitals or Sex Acts Depicted

What cliched it for me was that the 4 images that I used on the post weren't even that explicit. One showed a woman in a bikini, one was just of a good looking woman wearing jeans and a top. The other two showed women in lingerie. More revealing than the first two, but still showing no genitalia or nipples. Many would view these as sexy, but tasteful images. Also, no sexual acts were depicted!

So what got this person so upset then, that they felt they had to censor on behalf of everyone? I assume it was the topic and the words that went with it. The topic was "cuckolding" and the images had writing on them with some explicit language. So this person did not seem to censor because of images. They censored because of the topic and the words that went with it!

I understand not liking to have an image pop up that you don't want to see. That's why I think #NSFW filtering should exist on here. But the person who censored me censored WORDS! They would have had to click my post, read through it all(I purposely put the most explicit words at the bottom) and then decide that the rest of you shouldn't see it. That is actively seeking things out to censor. Censoring words is the slippery slope to book burning.

Please, to the people behind Steemit. Please make it so that self righteous little despots don't have the power to do things like this on here.
