Tamil Nadu stops screening of 'The Kerala Story' after protests

Due to protests against the film and poor reviews from the audience, Tamil Nadu's movie theaters decided not to show "The Kerala Story." The film directed by Sudipto Sen saw a significant increase in box office receipts on Saturday, earning approximately 20 crore rupees in just two days.

According to M Subramaniam, president of the Tamil Nadu Theatre and Multiplex Owners Association, the movie was shown in some multiplexes, but it didn't do well for two days, so the theaters decided it wasn't worth the ongoing protests.
The movie was only shown in a handful of multiplexes that were owned by pan-Indian organizations, mostly PVR. Due to the absence of well-known stars, local multiplexes had already decided not to show the movie. For instance, there have been two performances thus far in Coimbatore—one on Friday and one on Saturday. Even those were unsuccessful. Considering that, theaters concluded that it was not worth going through the danger of fights and such," added Subramaniam.
