Don't be discouraged when your posts don't receive traction. Enjoy Steemit for the great community it is and be grateful for whatever you get out of it even if it's $0.00.
Don't be worried if your post doesn't receive traction. Don't cry, don't fret. Now i understand what it feels like to passionately invest time to writing about what you love. I'm sure when we all heard about Steemit, we were very excited about the potential stories we were about to write and even more so, excited about the rewards we were going to receive. I'm sure this gave you a sudden rush because it did to me. It was one of those moments when your adrenaline pumps very hard. The excitement!
So having spent that time with all the build up of excitement, it is very discouraging frankly to write a post, hoping for both attention in comments and upvotes, plus rewards and not receive any. It is very discouraging refreshing your blog page and realizing that although sometimes your upvotes go up, and there are comments, your reward stays the same and in some cases, go down. A friend of mine I invited didn't understand why within a few minutes of posting, he was able to manage a couple of cents and after hours, having the rewards decreased. He was discouraged and thought initially Steemit was a scam(He said jokingly).
I told him not to worry about the money too much. Although, let's be frank, we all are happy about being rewarded for our beautiful stories, we shouldn't be too concerned about this. I've seen a lot of people feeling very bad and even anxious about their posts. With time running out and nothing earned after really passionately investing everything in your beautiful post, i know that feeling. You feel like crying, to be honest with you, you feel like giving up, not writing again and going back to what you were doing before Steemit. People lose hope, either not writing again and feel very discouraged. You take a peek at the trending page and wonder what's making this post different from yours. You compare, not in an angry manner, but in a very worried and innocent way. You wish you were in their shoes and how much that money would go a long way in making a big difference in your life.
Let's be frank also, Steemit has really helped a lot of people and made a big difference in the lives of others. I don't know if you saw the story about the kid who used to spend $1 a day and now has over $46000 or so. These are magical moments in the lives of others. And i deeply respect the Steemit community for creating these magical moments and filling the lives of others with bright lights. You see the experience with Steemit is a mixed one. I for one, see these trending posts and am very happy and thankful for the stories these content producers are creating and the reward they're receiving. At the same time, i feel very bad when i see others not receive so much love. I wouldn't want anyone to leave Steemit discouraged especially when they have a lot of valuable stories to give to the Steemit world and to our lives. I would hate to think that has happened but I'm sure there are wonderful people out there who have beeen discouraged with the support they've received.
I'm not saying that by force everyone should receive huge rewards or so. This is a system and it works in a certain way. I completely understand that.
You see, Steemit is just like the world we live in some ways. Sometimes people get unnoticed for their great work and others who comparatively did less get all the attention and vice versa. It happens both ways. People get the attention for good work and others who don't deserve it, don't. You should see Steemit for what it truly is. It's a one of a kind beautiful family. You should understand that at every moment of your life, you should be very happy and not sad, and even in your sad times, you should be very happy. See it as your loving family that always loves you no matter what, even when it doesn't always give you rewards. It will always love you and see your value no matter what. It may not always reward you, but it's love for you is true and eternal.
Don't be confused too much by this statement. What I'm trying to say is that, enjoy Steemit for what it truly is. A loving place to shell out value to others. I've personally learnt a lot from what I've read than the rewards I've received. I've been exposed to so many cultures, perspectives, learnt a lot of technological how to's and so on. I've received rewards too, others a lot more, others "less" comparatively. What is most important is, i don't value the bigger rewards any bigger than the "smaller" rewards. I value both of them equally. Although bigger rewards are obviously significantly bigger. I cherish both of them equally.
I cherish the people who voted on my post. The difference, i guess, two of my posts received a bigger and a comparatively "smaller" reward is because of their influence(Steem power) and if the post was voted on by the same people who voted on your post that received "less" rewards, with a lot of influence or Steem power this time, your post would have received a lot more rewards. You have to try to understand that not everyone has the same influence. If we all had the same influence, your posts will not be rewarded "less". But the main goal here is not to worry about rewards and whether or not you're receiving more or less. The goal here is to understand that, Steemit is a treasure. A treasure where you can give value to others. An opportunity. If you're loved in return and are gifted, be grateful. But if you for example, don't receive any rewards on your posts, understand the family analogy and realize that Steemit loves you no matter what.
For me, to be fortunate to be here alone is enough payout for me. Don't worry about it. Don't worry too much about it. If you get any rewards from it, be very grateful that this has happened. People have actually voted on your post. Value those people and be happy. I cherish every vote i get on my post and every reward I've received on my post. They mean a lot to me however "little" it is. To be frank i don't consider it little at all. My posts are worth millions because you viewed, upvoted and commented on it. You being the special you who is just reading my post and i deeply appreciate and love it. Thank you :) I have this mindset and and in my heart also. That is what gives me the rush to be on Steemit.
I thank Ned, Dan and the entire team for creating this platform. I have a lot to say about it and i would love to talk to anyone discouraged and tell them that they're valued a lot more than the rewards they receive. They should be grateful for whatever they receive and engage in Steemit to make it a really fun place. We don't want to create the impression that Steemit is a place only for making money, although making money is good. We want to create a loving family place where we all come to share what we know and create these magical valuable moments in our lives. Gosh! There's a lot more i want to say but i really don't want to make this boring any further although i would love to continue so here's what I'll end with and please try your best to experience Steemit as such. Don't worry too much about the rewards you receive, instead write your heart out and give value to the community. If you don't get anything out of it, be grateful and again, don't worry. You're loved and you not receiving anything on your post doesn't mean anything. You're a good hearted cookie and are loved.
Thank you for reading and keep Steeming regardless of what you receive out of it. Focus on engaging with Steemit as i do and enjoying it for what it is whilst giving out value to others. If you don't even get a single upvote except yours, remember you're a very special person and you're loved by yourself even, and also Steemit. Hope out of this, you were able to get a little bit of what i am trying to drive at.
Love you all and Keep Steeming Proudly, Lovingly and Happily :)
Keep up the good work!
