Hard For Some, Harder For Others
Man Oh Man, what a depressing day it has been for my crypto nest egg. If you’ve been living under a rock and haven’t seen the blood bath yet then I would recommend you stay there. Probably better to ruin your Monday rather. Mondays pretty much suck anyway haha.
I knew when I invested months ago that this could very likely happen and even as I sit here now I have no intention of doing anything other than not checking my Luno Wallet App. I never expected to get rich quick through Steemit either. I enjoy spending time here and writing. Steemit gives me an opportunity to do that and build something for my future. Sure, there was a time when all I wanted was to be able to have Steemit be my only ‘job’, but that changed after I realized that this would be a short term gain and it would be more worth my while to grow it as a sort of pension fund. For my future and that of my family.
What I have been thinking about is all those people who depend on their earnings here to make it through each month. Not all of us are long term hoarders of Steem Power and while the current conditions are good for us it is not good for them. There are thousands of users around here that depend on their income here to get by. Conditions like these are awfully depressing for them. Awfully depressing and de motivating.
In addition to that my voting behavior is under pressure. Sure, we all get the ten votes per day but when the price is higher your vote is worth more and you get to push that voting power percentage a little harder. I’m not talking about depleting it completely, I’m talking about days where I was able to push it down to 70% and I was still able to give a decent upvote. Now I’m getting frustrated because I feel like I can hardly upvote anything before its value has dwindled down to nothing.
This then means that I am able to support less and less as the price falls and falls. Which of course doesn’t help all those users who depend on their income here to get by each month.
Just my thoughts on the situation at the moment. Sure, when the price is down we get more Steem Power and exposure and all that, but please just bear in mind that, while this is important to some, it’s not the case for everyone. My advice will always remain that you should not allow this type of depressing situation to keep you away. It’s tough but every cent you scrape together now is more than you had before you posted, voted or commented.
Thank you for reading and remember to keep smiling 😊

Hmm...yes. I would also like to be blogging rather than doing some aspects of what have now become my day jobs, but it's not to be - for a while, at least. I recognise that I would have to be on Steemit 24/7 to achieve that and probably not write what I really want to write. I've not drawn anything out and I didn't even know I had a Luno wallet until I received notificaiton that it had been terminated. Or whatever word they used. Anyhow, I'll stay here as long as I enjoy it and if there's a little something for a rainy day, that's good.
And as for @lizelle's question about the comments flagged because of low ratings: if you look at them, they are usually spam and I'm glad for those that flag users like that. We don't need them on Steemit.
It would be nice though hey @fionasfavourites? I also came to that realization and rather decided to enjoy it as I am now. As for the future who knows, at least for now I am building up my SP and having fun. I've also met so many people and simply just love spending time here :)
@jusipassetti me too, I just wish I could spend more time here!
I don't let the swings of the market make decisions for me. I just invested in more Steem Power just because the price is so low. When it goes up, it will make me more money. Meantime, my vote will be worth more. I still believe Steem is a platform worth investing in and the many supportive people I've found here since joining has proven it to me.
Sounds like a good outlook @blockurator. I also bought a bit a week ago, could kick myself now for not waiting a little bit longer.
It's hard to time it just right. If you can buy low and sell high, you've got the game. Unless you're a HODLer. And that's fine. If you try to buy at its lowest, you'll have a hard time figuring out when that is.
I buy to hold so not really cocerned about selling anything. It is difficult to time it and I always panic I buy just too early.
I've also been thinking what a worry it must be for those who solely rely on steemit for income! But now is the time to steem even harder I believe. I've seen so many Comments hidden due to low ratings as well, wonder why?
Very true @lizelle. The low price is no fun for these users. I see @fionasfavourites did answer this for you. Hopefully the lower price will flush out some of the spammers as well.
Hopefully it does flush them out but I really enjoy the platform:)
Let's hope, yes. I'm seeing some that I think are bots and their only comments are links - often to biblical sites.
I've picked up on that too, you would think the biblical types would behave a little better :)
@jusipassetti Hmm, yes. No comment.🙄
Oh, I know what you mean. I am one of those people that depends on steemit earnings. No SBD means no food :D It can get really really depressing but my hubby is always telling me "Don't look at!" because I am always checking the market and what the prices are. This is a marathon, not a sprint and just like it went down, it will go up again. I am sure. It always does, we just need to push through this. Thank you for thinking about different people and for sharing your thoughts with us on this 💚
This is excatly why I wrote it as there are all sorts of earners and investors here and Steemit offers different things to different people. We should always be mindful of eachother.
Come for the rewards but stay for the community. One of these days...everything is going to change...just you wait and see!
I've always loved that saying @giantbear and I completely agree.
It can be hard now, but we must keep the spirit and wait, because nothing lasts forever... and after big fall, bears usually come (I hope this time too:)
Just keep going @erikaflynn. One day we'll all be smiling.
As much as I would like to steem for a living, I'm not making anywhere close but who knows in the future... the community and the writing keeps me going for now 😊
It would be great though and defintely something to work towards. I feel excatly the same way, it's the writing and the people that keep me going 😀
I hear you so hard! I've been struggling with the whole thing myself. I have started branching out with my writing both on other blog formats as well as working on an ebook or two. I have to get myself out of the 'all steemit all the time" mode, although I'm still enjoying the community and the writing here has been what finally broke my writer's block, so I'm STILL very very thankful for it!
Here's hoping it all miraculously goes back up higher than it was before!
I'm so glad that writing here helped with that dreaded writers block. If it wasn't for Steemit I would probably not be writing at all and for that I am forever grateful. I'm still obsessed and spend every spare moment here, I really just love it.
Always a good idea to try out new things and good luck with all your other projects @byn. I've always enjoyed your writing.
Really enjoyed your content, I feel the same about those who rely on earnings in this market @jusipassetti
Enjoyed reading all the comments above, it gives a good perspective on how people feel, we are not able to rely on much in this day and age, communities sticking together, slowly we grow together.
Thank you @joanstewart. It must be very tough on them for sure.
Yip... sadly i am one of those that is in that boat but i woukd still rather be sitting where i am now even with the dwindling earnings than have the levels of stress i had before.... so, keeping the focus forward :)
I know @jaynie. I'm very happy that being here released you from all that stress. Living like that is not the way to live and like you said best just to keep looking forward. Hopefully we'll all be smiling and rolling in it one day 😎
