When police-bots go crooked.
@soupper3 is a BADLY programmed bot which is flagging RANDOM comments, some of which are very good. All you have to do is look at its track record.
It was created by @pharesim
"I am a downvote bot. Contact @pharesim at slack if you think I am misbehaving. Please help fighting spam! Upvote this post to strengthen the bot, downvote the parent post if it has positive upvotes."
@igorduarte · in response to a post regarding Xarum coin:
Xaurum is a great and revolucionary cryptocurrency based in gold!!" - DOWNVOTED BY A @pharesim
@soupper3 continues to unjustly downvote posts by @igorduarte - is this harassment? What can this user do for himself? Start a new account?
What can we do to prevent bots from doing more damage to this place than hackers?
Upon further research, it appears the bot is targeting specific individuals.
I realize that some bloggers may embellish the benefit of Bots on Steemit to appeal to the high-tech crowd, but its not right, nor fair, nor just.
The damage that these bots are doing must be accounted for and discussed, because I see it getting out of control. If we dont do something now, this place will descend quickly into a world of spam-bot junk posts and comments. We dont want the same future as Craigslist.
We can choose to make a stand against bots.
The main problem with bots is when the owners inject their own biases and politics into the censor list.
Unless the rules are open sourced, AI censor bots should be considered a weapon, and a threat to free speech.
I wholeheartedly agree, and feel that you have articulated my concern immaculately.
