MINNOWS Q&A - Welcome to ask ANYTHING #MinnowsUnite
Dear Minnows (and not minnows welcome too!)
When I joined steemit.com I was lost as a minnow in the Pacific Ocean... wouldn't find Nemo at all
Honestly, it was very difficult for me to find answers and help AT ALL. There is no chatroom (directly at least), no email addresses, no phone numbers... no leader for me to find help and follow easily
I want to spend some time with you guys to answer ANY question you have regarding to STEEMIT, if I know the answer or have someone who knows, will put all my efforts into helping you.
I would have loved to get this kind of help when I joined, unluckily it was not like that :(
We will make this ocean more like a sea together.
J.
Why do my posts' payout drop every day?
It is not a very simple answer, depends on a couple factors better explained here https://steemit.com/steemit/@penguinpablo/here-s-why-your-potential-payouts-are-going-down
Congratulations @jonipilo! You have completed some achievement on Steemit and have been rewarded with new badge(s) :

In Wallet, what does "redeem rewards (transfer to balance) mean? Should I click on this?
YES, do click on it, that's what happens 7 days after a post or comment or curation period. Those rewards BELONG TO YOU
Didn't answer directly, that means exactly TRANSFER "that amount" TO YOUR STEEMIT WALLET
Should I upvote my own posts?
Hi Woody, you shouldn't right now, your votes are precious when not much Steem Power and every time you vote, your voting power goes down and needs time to go up again. Best to do in the beginning is to vote EARLY posts that have a BIG potential of making $. This way you will be rewarded with curation $ and you will be able to grow faster.
Thank you for clearing that up for me Jonipilo !
ask as much as you can, we will certainly find a solid network by asking. FB new group

Are you able to transfer you steem dollars to steem power?
It is better, and faster to sell the SBD on the market (click on the arrow next to SBD, then market). After you sell it for Steem, you can convert it into steem power (SP) by clicking on the arrow next to STEEM and selecting POWER UP. It is instant, POWERING DOWN IS NOT (takes about 3 months)
ah ha, cool. Thanks!
;)
I'm a minnow, and I dont really understand much here.. but the FAQ states
"If a post is upvoted the moment of posting, 100% of the curation reward goes to the author.
At 3 minutes, 90% goes to the author and 10% to the curator."
At 15 minutes it's a 50/50 split.
etc...
I honestly Don't understand how anyone is getting any curation rewards as every posts seems to get votes almost immediately
Very good question!!! You are not competing against a human in the first 3 minutes but against a BOT like steemvoter.com we will release a minnow voter bot soon.
The bots are here all around, auto commenting, auto voting, auto messing. It is not against the rules but are part of the community.
Get your bots up and running!
Still dont understand it. So if I make a comment. Someone upvotes after 4 hours. Then there is for example 1$ next to my comment, then it is not mine? but can be for the upvoter
If the $1 appears on your comment, it will go down a bit in time... like some kind of depreciation... and the last day it will be divided between AUTHOR REWARDS and CURATORS REWARDS. Author % goes to you, Curators % go to upvoters, dont know the exact distribution, i guess it is around 75-25
Follow-up. So if I want the author to get max reward, I should upvote <3min (which is my goal BTW). And if I want max curator reward for myself, I should wait >15min?
EXACTLY and less than 30 min!
• If you vote immediately after a post is submitted: The voter gets almost zero, the author gets nearly 100%.
• If you vote 15 minutes after a post has been submitted: The voter gets 50% of the curation reward, and the author gets the other 50%.
• If you vote 30 minutes (or later) after a post is submitted: The voter gets 100% of the curation reward.
And less than 30 min!!! But YES
So is it best to save your upvotes for articles/authors you really like? How fast does your Steem Power deplete?
Right now it is more convenient to UPVOTE the potentially GREAT posts. Steem power may deplete after 15-20 votes, my experience
nice post
Thank you, please comment or ask anything. Suggestion if I may: selfie and profile pic :)
add some description more so that your topic may provide more and more information thanks

Hey, great post. It's nice to see people helping. My question is, how can I attract my target audiences? I'm posting a blog that I think could be helpful to people who suffer as a result of thoughts and emotions but most of my posts only have a few views so I'm starting to think that there is no point if people are not going to benefit from my blog. I'm still very new to this and am still unsure if steemit is the place for my blog.
it would be best probably to post in a specialized subcategory in beta.chainbb.com in the beginning. Steemit is still a bit chaotic.
chainbb IS basically steemit, same account login and wallet. Give it a try please.
Will do, thanks for your help.
Thank you! I'm just learning that I'm a minnow. So yes, I will be in touch!
I did not know what a whale was till last month :( Dont be afraid or ashamed, as information flows unevenly here
Much needed explanations, so I don't mess this things up. I'd like to know how to edit - already posted content or tags.
Hi @irastra, go to your post, down bottom before comments you will se the button "EDIT", you can always edit posts
Thanks. I couldn't find it, but I'll try again.
I have another question. Once I wrote a comment with correct data and I upvoted it (= I was just testing how everything works that day) and then someone downvoted it (without any arguments or comments) and the balance was set to zero again. So I'm interested how this downvoting works.
I also read that someone promoted his post what cost him $400 and someone with $1,000,000.00 in his wallet downvoted it (without arguments) and took away his $400. So, I was just confusedly puzzled about this whole ordeal.
Can you please explain how this downvoting works?
Sure! Downvoting gives a negative upvote reward. If a whale downvotes you... Your post will probably go down to 0 rewards. You can get downvotes from anyone at anytime but you need a veryyy good reason for downvoting.
To downvote, you are basically reporting the post or flagging it. Up right you will see a flag which will end up taking you to downvoting the post.
What should be downvoted? SPAM, copied stuff, stolen stuff, etc. But it is not being used as intended. Steemit is becoming closer to a Spamit.
Use downvotes wisely
Thanks. I haven't downvoted anyone, because my opinion is that I should argument my dislikes and be honest about it, and not just browsing about, judge others' ideas and downvote whatever doesn't fit my ideas about universe and whatever is in it.
Agree!
I've found yet another question that was hiding in the back of my head. That's, "What does resteem really do i.e. what is the function of it? This may sound like a stupid question but I don't know if I have a good understanding of it.
Hi, resteem is the same as a "share" button. Once resteemed a post or comment, it will appear top on YOUR feed, so your followers may notice what you "shared"
That's pretty awesome of you. If i think of anything, I'll reach out...
