RE: What app developers can learn from steemit's mistakes.

Fortunately we are getting a mobile app and you make some excellent points about the initial user experience. My first reaction was "who cares about earning a couple dollars a post" when my friend Robert first invited me. Then I came back a month later and saw the trending page and realized that the potential was much higher. The money is what I noticed because most blogging platforms and social media make the money so difficult to get to. Hopefully the new interface Steemit seems to be working on combined with the mobile app and new user onboarding process will all come together for a launch into outer space!

Money is a great driver, but in order to attract a broader user base I think it should not be made the single primary selling point.

It works well to pull in people like us -entrepreneurs and the ideologically driven that can identify the monetary system as a somewhat exotic new and useful tool, but not expect it to deliver free stuff - however we seem to be in clear minority in this world.
