WTF IS GOING ON WITH @NULL AND ITS 35 FOLLOWERS?

in #steemit8 years ago

This article, https://steemit.com/steemit/@ban485/this-is-my-official-steemit-breakup-letter-attention-all-minnows has brought to My attention something everyone on Steemit needs to be aware of and furthermore this should be explained to ALL users of Steemit.
I encourage Everyone to visit @null and look at that "Users" wallet. Then, go to each tab and You'll realize this @null has NO:

Yet @null has 35 Followers

And "Estimated Account Value
The estimated value is based on a 7 day average value of Steem in US Dollars.
$6,305.23".
And here's a peek at the incoming SBD being received by @null:

This looks mighty damn suspicious. With a Bachelors of Science in Finance from Birmingham-Southern College and a Juris Doctorate Degree along with a decade of practicing law this looks "under handed".
I'm calling for an explanation of the truth behind these "blind" deposits to an account that seems to benefit NOBODY. That's a hell of alot of money for an account that has performed no function on this site, yet has more SBD than the average Steemit User.
Transparency men and women! This bullshit that somehow this account will benefit this platform in the future is hogwash! Steemit Users deserve the truth.

Sort:

It has to do with the new 'promotion' capability.
You might look it up. I'm not smart enough to explain something to a Phd. or a lawyer.

Haha, holy shit. Well done.

And You're a complete dick!

Calm down, I found the comment funny and said so.
But ok. Im a complete dick. At least I'm not writing posts half cocked :D
Get it... cause im a complete dick and your post was mis-informed.

ignore them bro, it's not worth it.

Read latest post from Dantheman

The latest post is about user User Retention?

If youre talking about the steemitblog post on promotions and the null account etc I'm familar with it and the concept of burning crypto in general. My last comment was just a joke in response to being called a dick, admittedly a lame one.

Or did you mean the User retention piece? If so, which part?

youre the one comn off as a dick with your acting like ur smart cuz u have a PHD, lol i just looked up null too, after seeing a transaction of 1 sbd from me to it that i didnt rememeber, but thenI remembered I paid 1 dollar for a PROMOTIOn of an article!

this is simply the account that u send money to when you want to "promote" an article

You don't even know wtf You're talking about...

When part of the supply is "burned" (taken out of circulation) the remaining lower supply now becomes more valuable all else (ie demand) being equal. This is beneficial to all Steem holders.

Steemit moves the decimal once every 3 years. This account looks almost like a pooled account. With promotion tips from multiple people without posting content, definitely looks suspicious.

Nevermind. I get it now. Good discussion.

Currency manipulation.....yeah, awesome. SMH

I don't mean this in any offensive way so please don't take it like that but I wonder why doesn't the:

Bachelors of Science in Finance from Birmingham-Southern College and a Juris Doctorate Degree along with a decade of practicing law...

help you use the Search function of the Steemit website.
If you would have used it, you could have seen this post: https://steemit.com/steemit/@steemitblog/introducing-promoted-content

Yeah its where all the promotion money goes lol

Basically @null is where promotion funds will go and I believe be taken out of circulation at some point. So if people are worried about too much currency inflating steem. Here is one way to deflate it some.

See, now thats the way to explain something. Not like the assholes before You. But for every kind considerate and polite person in this world there are atleast 3 absolute pricks.

I agree people should remain civil. While you are certainly likely proud of your achievements and should be, titles and degrees don't mean too much to a lot of people. Myself included. I don't have a degree, but have taken over jobs people with PhDs (from a good school) in Computer Science were not handling. I could have had a degree, but I became very angry with the speed they were teaching. I was in my last year for a B.S. in Computer Science and I saw them slow the class down for people that had no aptitude and really would have benefited from an advisor helping them find something they were actually good at. I was young, stubborn, and pissed I was paying thousands of dollars to twiddle my fingers while they taught such people. Later I worked for a place where I dealt with a lot of students and professors from different colleges all over the country. I encountered on one case a person with two PhDs and working on her third. She was a moron. These days degrees are meaningless... they give them to anyone that spends time and money. It is not a good measure of how knowledgeable a person is or skilled. If I were hiring people I'd accept applications from degree holders and non-degree holders, but I'd test the skills of the applicant with a test I made up. They wouldn't necessarily have to solve it then. I'd also be watching their thinking process, and how passionate they are, and how able to learn.

So why did I tell you this? Degrees are frowned at by some people because you can almost get them from a cracker jax box. If you are writing a post about yourself, feel free to share them.

When you are angry or concerned about something... don't throw them out there unless asked. Doing so is kind of like bludgeoning someone into accepting your point of view as some Appeal to Authority due to your degrees. Appeal to Authority is a form of logical fallacy. YOU DID NOT DO THE FALLACY part. You did not say "I am right because I have these degrees". That is good.

Yet some people could have read that as being implied. Really that is their own fault. We should try not to make assumptions. Yet I think all of us do make mistakes and assume from time to time.

I have a rule to keep it civil. I simply don't talk to people that are not civil. So even if you said something that annoyed me (you didn't) I would have replied with civility.

I kind of ignored the degrees in your post to be honest. I didn't even register them until I read someone elses comment. Why? They are meaningless to me. I've encountered far too many paper tigers in my life (people who look amazing on paper and don't know shit) that I don't really care one bit about papers and titles.

You on the other hand. If you worked hard and learned, and it is an achievement you are proud of. That is a good thing.

now that is a great comment !! good to read this one. ; - )

You're not very polite yourself because polite and kind people don't lower themselves into profanities like you have done.

so where does it go actually..into nowhere cryptoland...is anyone benefitting from it?

if you want do a promotion
the money go to @null

maybe bots making mass upvotes then dumping funds into one single account. I have seen a couple accounts like this one. thats my only guess on it though.

I think this game is very funny , we thought of making an interesting post may be , to get SBD , but on the other hand there are those who do not have a post but it's been getting a lot of $ .
I think there is something wrong in steemit :3 x_x

I just know that to have avoided confusion using business/financial principles instead of the label "null" it could have been named "FundsForPromotions" or 'SteemitPromotions". Other than being a business owner just look at the definition of the word Null:
null
nəl/
adjective

having no legal or binding force; invalid.
"the establishment of a new interim government was declared null and void"
synonyms: invalid, null and void, void; More

having or associated with the value zero.
nounliterary

a zero.
verbELECTRONICS

combine (a signal) with another in order to create a null; cancel out.

So, when I see this word Null associated with a dubious Steemit User acvount such as @null I distinctly believe this account void or equal to zero. So I believe better labeling would have quashed any questions.

Btw, Mu apologies to anyone offended by My tone or language.
