Thanks for the nice insights. Steemit has indeed advantages compared to other social media. And I have indeed think they should be held responsible for certain content/actions. In the end they own the content.
Steemit is somehow somewhat self regulating but not perfect yet. I see two issues in this regard. Copyright infringement is hard to battle because no-one really has the authority. Boys are a good try but far from complete. Whales can have too much power. Suppose some president candidate wants to spread fake news. All it takes is some big money (which they have) to become a whale. Add some bots and an enthusiastic following. With that power it becomes easy to spread it.

Hi jef, thanks for the input. You make some good points. The self regulating is not yet perfect, I do think that some help from Steemit might do the trick to at least battle the copyright issues at least until we have more whales who can "police" the site. But you are right with the right amount of money anything is possible.
