Please don't upvote replies that aren't meaningful.
Have you ever posted something that took you a long time and while several of the replies are really great and meaningful, quite a few of them make no sense whatsoever?
There seem to be quite a few spammers on this site...... and they aren't just delegated to spamming posts, they are also spamming comments.
I'll give you an example.
If I post a long blog piece or a chapter of one of my fiction stories which take a long time to write, and I use Pixabay or another copyright free site to grab an image to go with that blog piece, and your reply is something like....
"Wow great picture!"
That is not a meaningful reply.
What that means to me is that you are commenting on the picture I grabbed from Pixabay........ and not the blog piece that I put a lot of work into.
It really means that you probably didn't read the blog piece at all and are just copying and pasting replies across a lot of comments in the hopes of getting those comments upvoted and also getting followers.
Now don't get me wrong.......... if I'm really posting a picture that I took then that's a perfectly good reply.
I'm seeing this thing quite a lot....... not just on my posts but on almost everyone's posts.
Now we used to have this problem......."Great post...... please follow me and upvote my post as well."
I'm not seen nearly as much of that...... but I am definitely seeing a lot of non meaningful comments some of which were ambiguous but most of which clearly indicate that the post was not even read.
With the Advent of Hard Fork 19 our voting power is worth more.
The cost of that voting power means that we can not vote as many times.
I really like the trade off...... and I think most people do.
However, with our limited amount of voting we should be careful to only upvote replies that indicate the content was definitely read.
I want to reward my readers but I don't want to give money to people that didn't read my content and are only trying to get money.
Actually reading the content doesn't take very long so there is no reason at all that you should be copying and pasting the same reply across several different posts or making questionable replies that indicate that you didn't read the content.
So let's reward readers and not reward spammers and keep on keeping on.
I hope you liked this one.
Follow me @jeezzle
What I like to do is read great posts and then comment on them too.
I upvote the post, and I upvote my own comment..
It makes sense to me, since my comment gets vaulted to the top of the comments, and also I make money by commenting, and I don't worry if I made money from upvoting the original post (I read first 30 minutes after a post is made, the author gets all upvote credit, and after 30 minutes, the upvoter gets credit, is that true?).
Your comments and support are always appreciated surfyogi. I'm pretty sure that's how it works with the 30 minute thing.
Another option could be to upvote at 0% in those cases. I like to upvote each comment after replying to it, so I know what I still need to read or answer. A column of little blue marks is very satisfying ;-) ideally with no gaps.
I liked your article. I am new to the community (about a month). I've been spending a lot of time reading posts and learning what this is all about. It is too bad that people have to ruin others experience by spamming. I like your style of writing. Upvoted and following you now. Cheers.
While I dont think you will ever be able to completely stop trivial comments/posts for upvotes. I do think by the nature of the platform they will eventually just go away because they are not actually interacting or contributing anything to the site and therefore not getting anything in return.
Atleast thats how it seems from my short time here and limited understanding of it all. But a friendly reminder to not feed the trolls now and then is always a good idea. :-)
I fully agree with the proposal, I support you! :)
I've been on Steemit for just a few days now but I've already noticed that... Robots, or humans that act like robots are among us ! ;-) It looks like a nice and promising concept though.
Well........ if they were robots I would probably upvote them just on the concept because I love robots.
You're right. Steemit shouldn't be a place for spam but a place where we can all help each other. Steemit isn't worth the effort of posting non-stop spam and maybe accumulating a couple dollars but I guess that's the nature of humanity...
Yes! Thank you for saying this! I am new to the site and I'm trying to find users who are Real People! I definitely appreciate a real comment from a real person!
Good point you have here. I also agree with you that we should upvote those comments where we feel something is wtitten after reading and thinking over it. That is the way for everyone who want a successful jouney on steemit.
Wow, great picture! Great to see such good content here. Upvote someone if you think you like them! Not me, because I'm not begging for nothin.
