How to SETUP a custom Steemit PROFILE PICTURE!! [Guide/How to]
Dear Steemians
Today I show you, how to setup your own custom profile picture for Steemit. I wrote this guide because I had some difficulties in the beginning with it. Let's get started!
1. First of all, you need your profile picture. In my case, it's a selfie of me which I took in my holidays in LaGomera.
2. After choosing a suitable profile picture, go to imgur. Imgur is a free uploading service for images. You do not need to sign up to upload images. So it's perfect for our goal!
3. You will find a green button in the top left corner. Press on it and a window will immediately pop up.
4. Drag and drop your profile picture into the window and it will automatically get uploaded to imgur. It should look as shown in the photo below:
If your profile picture is already a square, you can go on to 9.!
7. If your profile picture isn't a square, we have one more problem because otherwise Steemit will simply take the middle of your picture and then the important part is maybe cut off. Luckily, there is a simple solution!
For this, go over the uploaded image with the mouse and then a small box appears in the right top corner of the image with an arrow. Press on the arrow and click on the option, „Edit image“
8. A new site opens and now you just go over the image and hold your mouse down to create a square. After you created a good square(It doesn't really need to be a square, just a rectangle with some similar values), press „Apply“ and then „Save“
9. For the next step, right click on the image and say, „Open picture in a new tab“. Click on it.
Now you should only see your image without the user interface of imgur in the new tab. From this tab, simply copy the url. How? You select the whole url. Press Ctrl+C or just right click and say, „Copy“
Now we can switch over to Steemit. Go over to your settings. The last step is really simple, we just have to paste the url and then hit „Update“. You can paste the url with Ctrl+V or again, right click and „Paste“
There you go!
With your brand new, awesome profile picture! I hope my first guide helped you. If you don't feel comfortable with your profile picture on imgur, you can delete it after you uploaded it on Steemit!
