Tips for musicians! How to get the most out of steemit?

in #steemit7 years ago

Well this time I want to share this information for those who start in steemit whose author is @dreamrafa good if you are an artist this is for you.

I continue with my series of tips for musicians , this time dedicated to the new musicians in steemit. I have seen a lot of incredible musicians come to steemit, but I see that they do not take advantage of it as it is due to the network, my intention is to orient them and make them grow in steemit, the social network of the future!

First of all you must realize that blockchain is the technology that will revolutionize the world in the next few years, and of course will revolutionize the musical "industry", just as social networks and the internet changed the industry last decade, the blockchain will take everything A step further, completely eliminating the middleman, and giving the artist complete control of his creativity. Steemit is the first social network built on a blockchain, Do you want to be part of the vanguard? Or do you prefer to stay in the comfort of what is already known?

I say this because many cling to your traditional social networks, when the first thing you should do is visualize steemit as your main network to promote and spread your music (valid for any art really), forget instagram, youtube, Facebook, all of them Are completely obsolete networks; Think about it, how many followers, visits and likes do you have in all those networks together? How much do you earn for your music in all those networks? Do all those fans really become a fanbase that will consume your art and that will go to your concerts ?, the truth is that for that to happen you must invest a lot of money in advertising , And still has nothing guaranteed.

Traditional social networks have become a business for social network owners, the user simply has to pay to have visibility, in contrast steemit is the opposite, the user gets a reward for creating content, and if you want to invest in Steem power to get more visibility, money is still yours.

So let's get to the point, what do you do to grow in steemit? All these tips are based on my experience, although it has not been very broad, I think it has been quite successful comparing it with my experience in other social networks.

Tip # 1: If you are new, you should make a post "introduceyourself", this is the first push to have some followers and some visibility, simply use the "introduceyourself" tag first, and create your post introducing yourself, And if you can put a photo of you with a poster that says your username and date much better, that gives you social verification, which is extremely important in steemit.

Tip # 2: Participate in as many contests as you can !, Some of these contests are: Openmic, Steemit Got Talent, Cervantes Contest. This will give you visibility and win you fans, I think these contests are the ones that have helped me to gain more followers and reputation in steemit, there is always someone creating a new contest, you just have to be aware and do not waste any opportunity.

Tip # 3: Support other musicians! It is not only about participating, but also about supporting other participants who will reciprocally support you, believe me (and no, you do not need the typical "follow me and follow you", "vote for my post and vote for yours", If you do this you will have the opposite effect). The way to support others is simply enjoying your publications, commenting something valuable and making a reestem to what you really like, without asking for anything in return you will get a lot. Do not lose anything with giving upvote and leave a good comment (do not spamm or post links), likewise others do not lose anything in giving upvote to you.

Tip # 4: Do not be a jealous and picky egotist: Okay, I understand, maybe deep down you're sure that you're superior to most network users, and it causes you great anger and frustration when another musician (or artist) In general) receives more upvotes and attention than you, it bothers you that that "mediocre" is more successful than you, you know that you deserve more, then steemit is a shit that does not value the quality! Wrong, in steemit even beginners are welcome and their shares are valued, steemit is based on community, mutual support, why instead of criticizing you, you do not leave good advice to help that person to improve in their art ? Do not you think you'd better stand still? Rather, you should choose to do the opposite: Rejoice in the success of others.

Tip # 5: Do not be afraid to post: Maybe you think you're still not good enough to put your videos? Or do you think you can not make a video or a song with enough quality? ... In steemit what really valued is the originality and authenticity, not that the quality does not matter, but you do not need a super elaborate video or a song Recorded in a professional studio to be published on steemit. You can publish your songs recorded with your cell phone, you do not have to be a pro in editing, none of that really matters, you can build your fanbase with simple but authentic and original content, let your creativity fly!

Tip # 6: Be Authentic and Honest: Whatever you do, do it because you really like it and because you really want to share it with other people, do not do it "for making money", I know this sounds cliché, but it is the truth. It does not matter if you want to cover your favorite artist, or you want to compose an original song, do it and share it! Do not be frustrated if you do not receive much money from your publication, so sharing and receiving feedback should be enough. When I started on steemit the first few videos I posted had very little reward, but this did not bother me at all, because I was gaining followers and received good feedback (much more than in any other social network). I've always made music because I like it, and not for making money, steemit is the only social network that has rewarded me for doing what I really like. But if you come with the moneymaking mindset, you will start doing things to make money, and you will fail.

Paradoxically I have always advised musicians and bands to take music as a business, and it is a piece of advice that I continue to give, if you have a band you can not go around playing free or giving away your records, you have to value yourself, and value what You do for others to value you too. If you want to live on music, you must make music a reliable and lasting source of income.

Steemit and the blockchain will really change the world of music, represent a complete paradigm shift, take advantage of being one of the first to ride the wave that will lead us into the future!

In the end, these tips will adapt to any type of art you do, I hope they are of your help.

Well I hope this information is to your liking and you can put it into practice.
