The Importance of Meaningful and Valuable Comments
Every week I like to post something to help new users. Today I would like to discuss Comments.
If you are a new user or a minnow with very few followers, this is the Number 1 thing you should be focused on.
This is how you will make friends and gain followers. Joining Discord communities is also extremely important, but I’ll talk about that more in another post.
If you don’t have any or very few followers then you shouldn't waste your valuable content by posting at this time. Very few people, if any, will see it and if your post doesn’t make more than around $2 by the 30 minute mark then it won’t reach the “hot” tab and it will pushed down the list of other “new” posts and nobody will see it at all.
You can’t succeed on Steemit alone. You need friends, followers, and a community.
The first and most important thing you should do when you first join Steemit (and even during your first few months here) is to focus on building a following of people with similar interests as yours.
People who blog about similar topics as you are the ones who will be more likely to read, upvote, and resteem you.
So, if you are a musician, start making connections with other musicians.
If you enjoy blogging about Psychology then scroll through the psychology posts and make connections that way.
Bad Comments vs. Meaningful and Valuable comments
Spam Comments:
Spam comments will not help you. You will not get any followers this way and it could be detrimental to your reputation as they are quite often flagged.
- I followed you please follow me
- Please check out my blog
- I follow and upvote you. You follow and upvote me please !!!!
- Thanks for post
Vague, Generic Comments:
Comments that are too short, vague, and generic also are not helpful. There is no indication that you actually read the post and these comments are usually ignored so they are pointless to make.
- wow
- Beautiful song
- Fantastic
- Really good job man carry on
- Great activity. Thanks for the post
- Thats great on..carry on your activity.all the best....
Meaningful, Valuable Comments:
Meaningful and Valuable comments are the key to making friends and gaining followers.
This involves specifically talking about what you liked about the post or perhaps offering a different viewpoint for further discussion. These types of comments create engagement.
Great to see the arts being promoted in its many forms. All the best to everyone. They're all winners in my book.
I saw this on YouTube!!! 😃 So if you see a like that was me 😊 I love how silly you guys are together! ♥ Beautiful
Knowing that you have been in a similar situation really gives me hope for my future and I really appreciate that…
This is very helpful for overcoming fear. Fears have only one thing in common... They prevent us from being fully who we are. Thank you for sharing.
It's definitely better to face your fears then to ignore them. This is how we grow into the version of ourselves that we want to be.
Also, it is extremely important that you respond if someone takes the time to leave a meaningful comment on your post.
I get so busy that I'm usually about a week behind on my replies which sucks and I'm sure I'm missing some comments along the way.
Don't be like me! lol
I've thought this multiple times - awesome that @isaria came through and put it in writing. When you don't have a whole lot of leverage with your own content, chiming in on existing conversations is by far the best way to bolster your SP and followers. On top of that, it's a great way to stay engaged in the community when you don't feel like producing an entire write-up yourself!
Exactly! You just stated what I was trying to say much better than I did! lol Thank you!
Haha anytime. Great OP!
your post is very interesting, I like your post, because it can add insight to me, hopefully in the future can provide better postings, so I can know many things in my life, thank you very much. and also hopefully useful for other stemit friends.
Thank you :)
Thank you so much @isaria for helping me avoid the same mistake. A whole lot of people are going to be successful on steemit because of people like you; indeed, this is mentorship at its apex.

Wonderful advice... I’ve been here for a while now, haven’t made much headway, but I’m still a huge fan of the platform... definitely need to focus more on my networking, connecting with the communities here, but I’m pleased with the circles I’ve found so far...
I'm glad you found some circles!

Spot on, dear. I love this list of example list. Thanks so much.
Thank you Rose.
I love lists! lol
While it does bother me when my posts go unnoticed I still take it as a lesson as far as creating content goes... if and when I do finally build up a following I at least know that I won’t have to worry too much about that aspect...
well, at least I think content is decent, ha ha...
I’m hoping to get up and running with dsound and dtube soon, donmaybe those will help me to get things moving a bit more... we shall see...

Although I did start posting before spending time commenting, I still think that was the right thing for me to do SOLELY because I just needed to start something to get myself out of my writer's block and my funk. I also wasn't expecting anyone to read anything I had to say, either, but it woke up my inspiration for writing again and that made me interested in other people's writing. I joined challenges and read everything that other people submitted. I left genuine comments on everything that held my interest (I don't get into religious stuff, politic and I don't even understand most of the crypto talk, so I stick with what I know for the most part)
This is a very awesome post, great advice and done in an easy to understand way AND I love that it's condensed and the bullet points are great. I have a weird love of lists and bullet points, so maybe that's just me! :)
lol thanks, I love lists and bullet points too!!!
