I wonder if Steemit has any competition in thd real sense. I don't think it has. Reddit comes to my mind but Reddit doesn't pay for writing.
Anyway, Reddit is way behind Steemit in foresight. Reddit is heavily censured and centralized so it doesn't even compare to Steemit.
Steemit Inc should get ready for explosive growth over the coming years I think.
