We who live in the lowlands have traveled, visited or even lived in the highlands. In contrast, those living in highland areas have also traveled to lower places.

Of course we also feel that being in the mountains or highlands is cooler and feels fresh than being in the lowlands.

Why does this happen ? Here's the explanation. There are several different opinions about the differences in air temperature in the plateau and in the lowlands.

1. High-altitude air particles are lower than air particles present in the lowlands. These air particles will receive the energy emitted by the sun and will turn it into heat, so that more and more air particles are getting hotter weather somewhere.

2. Gas molecules in lowland areas are more dense than in the highlands. These gas molecules continue to move kineticly, causing friction between molecules. Well, according to the theory of motion brown, gas molecule movement is what causes heat. So the more solid the gas molecule somewhere hotter and the smaller the gas molecule the cooler the weather.

3. The effect of earth's gravitational force on air is equal to the force of gravity on other objects. So that the closer the axis of the earth the tensile force against the air is greater than in the highlands. So that causes the air in the mountains cooler.

4. The higher a place, the lower air pressure thus affecting the cohesion distance between the water particles. The less the particle water cohesion so that the collision between the light photon with the smaller and smaller particles also the effect of the heat of the sun.

Tentu saja kita juga merasakan bahwa berada di daerah pegunungan atau dataran tinggi lebih dingin dan terasa segar dibandingkan berada di daerah dataran rendah.

Mengapa hal ini bisa terjadi ? Berikut penjelasannya. Ada beberapa pendapat yang berbeda mengenai perbedaan suhu udara di dataran tinggi dan di dataran rendah.

1. Partikel udara didataran tinggi lebih rendah dari partikel udara yang ada di dataran rendah. Partikel udara ini akan menerima energi yang dipancarkan matahari dan akan mengubahnya menjadi panas, sehingga semakin banyak partikel udara yang ada semakin panas cuaca di suatu tempat.

2. Molekul gas didaerah dataran rendah lebih padat dibandingkan di dataran tinggi. Molekul gas ini terus bergerak secara kinetis sehingga menimbulkan gesekan antar molekul. Nah, menurut teori gerak brown, gerakan molekul gas inilah yang menimbulkan panas. Sehingga semakin padat molekul gas disuatu tempat semakin panas dan sebaliknya semakin sedikit molekul gas semakin dingin cuacanya.

3. Pengaruh gaya gravitasi bumi terhadap udara sama dengan gaya gravitasi terhadap benda lainnya. Sehingga semakin dekat dengan sumbu bumi gaya tarik terhadap udara lebih besar di bandingkan di daerah dataran tinggi. Sehingga menyebabkan udara di pegunungan lebih dingin.

4. Semakin tinggi suatu tempat, tekanan udara makin rendah sehingga mempengaruhi jarak kohesi antar partikel air. Semakin jarang kohesi partikel air sehingga tabrakan antara photon cahaya dengan partikel semakin kecil dan makin kecil juga efek panas cahaya matahari yang di timbulkan. Sehingga suhunya jadi terasa lebih dingin.
